While Nolan gifted the world a meticulous insight into one of the most important historical figures, the movie has helped the 3 Body Problem Creators in a big way. When Benedict Wong’s Da Shi was inspecting the murder of a scientist, the scene looked closer to the death of Oppenheimer’s mistress. “Oppenheimer’s mistress died the same way. On her knees, head in a tub,” Wong’s Da Shi said in the scene.
Florence Pugh plays Oppenheimer’s mistress, Jean Tatlock in Nolan’s 2023 masterpiece. While Nolan refrained from giving a clear clue as to whether it was suicide or murder, the scene definitely revealed a similarity in the posture of the victims. 3 Body Problem Creators Reflected on ‘Oppenheimer’s Mistress’ Reference
It was certainly immaculate but the writers have made a compelling reference to the scene of the murder Da Shi was investigating following the mystery riddled his department or the world as scientists have committed suicide under mysterious circumstances. His co-creator, D. B. Weiss added to the explanation saying that it was a “Very big, very well-made explanation of this moment.”
In its essence, it is worth noting that the show has given subtle references on many occasions or even recreated several instances in history with simulated reality infusing modern and historical periods for the benefit of aliens.
