Netflix has released the official trailer of A Family Affair starring Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, and Joey King. And, it’s a blend of humor and some wholesome moments. Here’s everything you need to know about the film—
What Is A Family Affair About?
Written by Carrie Solomon, the story follows a surprising romance that kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity.
“Nicole brings with her so much experience and so much talent and intelligence. She’s like your co-filmmaker,” Richard LaGravenese says. “And then she’ll also address what the film needs. There’s two scenes that came out of her saying, ‘I think we’re missing a beat here.’ ”
A further synopsis adds a bit more flesh to the story:
“Work as the assistant to super mega movie star, Chris Cole, a demanding and womanizing narcissist, is beginning to take its toll on Zara. On an impulse she quits her job, only to soon discover that her widowed mother has begun a romance with the famous playboy.”
Who’s In The Cast?
After their roles in the 2012 movie The Paperboy and the upcoming movie The Butler, Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman are working together again. The cast is led by Joey King, who is best known for playing Elle Evans in the Netflix series Kissing Booth trilogy. Meanwhile, Zac Efron makes a comeback to Netflix following his roles as Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, as well as his reality series Down to Earth. Nicole Kidman starred in The Prom on Netflix previously.
Speaking about reuniting with Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron told People, “I was still a bit apprehensive, but reuniting with Nicole is always great. As talented as she is an actress, she is equally kind, caring, and wonderful to spend time with.” He also promised that their characters’ chemistry in the new film is “seamless, natural, and fun”.
When Is A Family Affair Releasing?
A Family Affair will be released on Netflix on June 28, 2024. It was originally slated for release in November 2023, but following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it was rescheduled until November 2024.
Directed by Richard LaGravenese and written by Carrie Solomon, the film is produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum, with executive producers Michelle Morrissey, Alyssa Altman, and Solomon.
