As the magical world of Harry Potter continues to evolve, two major projects are shaping its next chapter. While HBO’s long-awaited live-action adaptation of the iconic book series gears up for its 2027 release, fans can soon dive into a fresh immersive journey, this time through sound. Audible and Pottermore Publishing have teamed up to produce Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, a sweeping new production featuring over 200 voice talents and seven unabridged audiobooks.
What Is Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions About
The full-cast audiobook series will reintroduce Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, followed by monthly releases of the remaining six titles through May 2026. According to Audible, it will be an “immersive audio entertainment experience” complete with original music, real-world sound capture, and high-quality sound design. For longtime fans and new listeners alike, this project aims to deliver a reimagined connection to J.K. Rowling’s magical universe.
Audible’s grand production arrives alongside HBO’s ambitious live-action reboot. The production of the show is currently underway in the U.K. The TV series, expected to run for a decade, has already begun generating buzz with its casting choices and faithful approach to Rowling’s novels.
But even before HBO’s visual journey begins, Audible’s release will bring the characters, spells, and heart of the series straight to fans’ ears, beginning with the classic tale of a boy who discovers he’s a wizard on his eleventh birthday.
Rachel Ghiazza, Chief Content Officer at Audible, captured the excitement, saying:
“Magic is coming alive as these brilliant actors lift iconic characters off the page and into our ears. Hearing these spellbinding performances in our state-of-the-art studios has been nothing short of extraordinary.”
Neil Blair, chairman of Pottermore Publishing, added:
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Audible to reimagine the Harry Potter stories through this groundbreaking full-cast audio experience… We can’t wait for a new generation of children around the world to discover the stories in this exciting new way.”
Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions Cast, Release Date And More

Leading the voice cast is Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore. Reflecting on the honor, Laurie said:
“I’m honored to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore, and thrilled to be able to take him around the track of this beautiful incarnation by Pottermore and Audible… This is great company, and it’s a privilege to be among their number.”
Joining him are Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, and Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall. Cush Jumbo will narrate the entire seven-book series.
Young actors Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton voice Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the first three audiobooks. Stanton is also playing Hermione in the HBO series— an exciting crossover that hints at deeper synergy between both projects. The final four books will feature Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis in the same roles.
With nearly 2,000 hours of recording completed, this full-cast edition is said to have been a transformative, multi-generational performance. As Audible expands its already extensive Harry Potter catalog, this new series is poised to stand alongside classics narrated by Stephen Fry and Jim Dale.
Audible’s upcoming Harry Potter audiobook series is set to premiere this fall.
