In a morning interview on Fox & Friends following his first presidential debate against Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump addressed Taylor Swift‘s political endorsement of his opponent.
When asked about Swift’s endorsement, Trump shifted the conversation to a different public figure, stating his preference for Brittany Mahomes. He emphasized, “Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better. If you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan.” (Via Variety) Trump’s comments highlighted a contrast between the two women, as he referred to Mahomes, the wife of NFL star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as someone he admired for her support of him.
Trump went on to suggest that Swift’s political leanings have consistently been aligned with liberal causes and Democratic candidates. He noted that her endorsement of Kamala Harris was inevitable given her political background, saying, “It was only a matter of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” His remarks reflected a belief that Swift’s political choices might impact her popularity or success in the broader market.
The former president concluded his response by once again praising Brittany Mahomes. “But I like Brittany. Brittany is great. She’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift. Wife of the great quarterback. I think she’s terrific,” Trump said, drawing attention away from Swift and toward a figure he believed shared more of his own values.

Earlier, Taylor Swift took to Instagram, sharing not just a personal photo but also a powerful political message. Alongside her cat Benjamin Button, Swift expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Labeling herself humorously as a “Childless Cat Lady,” Swift took a lighthearted dig at JD Vance’s controversial remarks about childless adults, signaling her intent to engage in the conversation with wit and purpose.
In her four-paragraph post, she urged her fans to take charge of their political decisions by researching the candidates and voting with informed minds. Her direct endorsement of Harris was grounded in a belief that the Vice President fights for causes that align with her own values. Swift emphasized, “She fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
What prompted Swift’s public stance was more than just support for Harris—it was also the rise of misleading content generated by artificial intelligence. The use of AI to create fake endorsements had targeted Swift, suggesting that she supported Trump. Feeling a need to counter this false narrative, Swift decided to clarify her position and remind her followers of the importance of truth in the digital age. By doing so, she also underscored the growing role of AI in spreading misinformation, which in turn highlights the need for individuals to verify information before forming opinions or casting votes.
This is far from Swift’s first foray into political activism. Her involvement in political endorsements began in 2018, when she supported Phil Bredesen for U.S. Senate and Jim Cooper for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
