It was a few days back when we got the first trailer of Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. And, it was fantastic. The James Mangold directed movie now has its release date set. Here, all that you might want to know about the film–
What Is The Plot?
The film is set in New York during the early 1960s. The official synopsis reads: “Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide.”
Although most of the plot is still unknown, we do know that the movie will follow 19-year-old Dylan as he moves from Minnesota to New York City for the first time in order to pursue a career in music and quickly becomes well-known all over the world. In an interview with Collider in April, 2023, director Goldman said: “It’s such an amazing time in American culture and the story of a young 19-year-old Bob Dylan coming to New York with, like, two dollars in his pocket and becoming a worldwide sensation within three years.”
Who Are The Cast Members In A Complete Unknown?
The movie stars Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan. Elle Fanning will be appearing alongside Chalamet as Dylan’s fictional girlfriend Sylvie Russo, inspired by the musician’s real-life ex-girlfriend and muse Suze Rotolo. Boyd Holbrook is rumored to play Johnny Cash, while Monica Barbaro will portray a young Joan Baez. Edward Norton will play Dylan’s fellow folk musician Pete Seeger.

Chalamet also sings in live performances as Dylan. The actor previously showcased his real-life singing chops in Wonka.
When Will A Complete Unknown Be Released?
Searchlight Pictures has set a Christmas Day release for Timothée Chalamet starrer A Complete Unknown. The film will hit theaters on Dec. 25.
A Complete Unknown is produced by Fred Berger, Alex Heineman, Peter Jaysen, Bob Bookman, Alan Gasmer, Jeff Rosen, Chalamet, and Mangold. Mangold and Jay Cocks adapted the screenplay from Elijah Wald’s 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric, while the title borrows a phrase from Dylan’s folk-rock anthem Like a Rolling Stone. Per Variety, the 83-year-old real Dylan reportedly took several meetings with Mangold and provided notes on the script, even though he isn’t in the film.
