Four years after the world bid farewell to Birmingham’s most notorious crime family, the Shelby clan is back, and Tommy Shelby is far from finished. Netflix has dropped the first teaser trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, giving fans a glimpse of the chaos, violence, and drama that defined the six-season BBC series. Set in 1940 Birmingham during the height of World War II, the feature film follows Murphy’s Tommy Shelby as he emerges from self-imposed exile to confront both personal demons and the fate of his family amid a city in turmoil. The trailer, dense with imagery and tension, teases a Shelby story that’s bigger, bloodier, and more explosive than ever.
Cillian Murphy Embraces Tommy Shelby Once Again

Cillian Murphy, who has been widely praised for his nuanced portrayal of the cunning and conflicted gang leader, explained his decision to return: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.” The teaser shows Tommy wandering through forests and graveyards, staring at headstones, and reacting to mysterious voices urging him back into a world he thought he’d left behind. “I’m not that man anymore,” he asserts, even as the film hints at bloody confrontations, Nazi threats, and the destructive legacy Tommy must face.
Returning alongside Murphy is director Tom Harper, with creator Steven Knight emphasizing the scale of the story: “The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No-holds-barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”
What to Expect from Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man

The trailer offers rapid glimpses of iconic Shelby imagery: a burning photograph, spinning coins, machine guns, and a building exploding. Fans also spot cast members Barry Keoghan, Sophie Rundle, and Stephen Graham in pivotal roles. Keoghan, who plays a new generation leader within the Peaky Blinders universe, shared his excitement: “[I’m a] massive, massive fan of the show, and Cillian’s a good friend, and I f—ing admire him as an actor as well. So just looking to get into that and getting my process now — I have a process I do, and I’ve not done it for a long while, so I’m excited and nervous at the same time.”
The film doesn’t just serve as a standalone story. It sets the stage for a two-season sequel series already greenlit by Netflix. The show will follow events in 1953, chronicling the race to control Birmingham’s post-war reconstruction. Knight described the sequel as “rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will premiere in theaters on March 6, followed by a streaming release on March 20. With its high-stakes drama, darkly compelling visuals, and the magnetic presence of Cillian Murphy, the film promises to reignite the world of the Peaky Blinders in ways both familiar and thrillingly new. Tommy Shelby’s story is far from over, and Birmingham is ready for its most dangerous chapter yet.
