Horror movies tend to have at least a bit of inherent ability to scare the audience or carry the essence of the genre. M. Night Shyamalan, who has been a prolific filmmaker specializing in the twisted genre of horror movies, has recently directed Trap starring Josh Hartnett in the lead. While the movie was in tremendous buzz keeping fans hooked after the trailer’s release, a new update has lowered the bar of expectations, casting doubts among fans for the Warner Brothers movie.
Recent Trap Update Worries Fans
A recent report of the highly anticipated horror Trap by master of the genre, M. Night Shyamalan has worried fans as the movie was certified PG-13. By the generic common notion, that horror movies should have the R-rated certificate, Trap’s censorship certification has left fans in serious doubt.
But there is not much to worry about the rating considering the history of the filmography of the director who made one of the greatest horror films of all time, The Sixth Sense, which is still considered the father of all the biggest plot twist movies. The Bruce Willis starrer movie was also rated with a PG-13 certificate.
Shyamalan’s debut movie, Praying with Anger, released in 1992, also received the same certificate. The streak continued with his later popular movies including his Unbreakable trilogy— Unbreakable, Split, and Glass; and then Signs, The Village, and The Visit— all have PG-13 certificates.
The director definitely deserves applause for his recent movies that have brought back his unique vision and powerful storytelling in the genre. Of course, all movies can not be PG-13, not horror films anyway and Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin claimed a R-rated certificate while Old remained to be another PG-13 movie from the director.
Fans Are Not Happy With Trap’s PG-13 Certificate
Despite Shyamalan having a considerably good history with a PG-13 rating, fans are clearly upset with the news of it as it perhaps diminished their hardcore expectations of the movie which will be seemingly gore-free. The movie will reportedly contain “some violent content” and “brief strong language.”
Ugh I’m suddenly less enthusiastic about it. pic.twitter.com/ANYpVOv77U

I need to see a trailer first before I write it off because PG-13 for a horror take don't do well to justify a horror. This isn't a slasher yes, but any form of horror needs to meet the execution thus needs to be R rated. Again, need to see a trailer please
