Maika Monroe has been one of the glorious scream queens with several wonderful horror credits to her name. The actor who gave her best performance in the 2014 horror, It Follows shared that a sequel of the movie is coming and it will be “bigger and darker” than the original installment.
Maika Monroe Teased It Follows Sequel
David Robert Mitchell’s 2014 horror pic It Follows has a cult following. The critically acclaimed movie stars Longlegs star Maika Monroe as Jaime “Jay” Height, a young woman followed by the mysterious supernatural force after a s*xual encounter.
It Follows has a staggering 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes but surprisingly it took nearly ten years to make a sequel of the movie. However, the wait is over as Monroe has teased the sequel of the movie, They Follow during her promotional tour of Longlegs where she played an FBI agent Lee Harker.

They Follow will be “bigger and darker and more f*cked up” Monroe teased without giving any details of the movie away (via Comingsoon.net). But considering the gravity of the previous movie it is fair to assume that Monroe’s statement on It Follows sequel would be true.
It Follows also stars Keir Gilchrist as Paul Bolduan, Olivia Luccardi as Yara Davis, Daniel Zovatto as Greg Hannigan, Jake Weary as Hugh, and co.
Maika Monroe Is Excited They Follow
Monroe is continuing to perform on her horror streaks and she has been super excited for the upcoming movie, They Follow. Previously speaking with Collider, the actor hailed the director of the original movie David Robert Mitchell. “But as you know with the first film, I’m not taking any credit in this, David is brilliant,” Monroe told the outlet.
“I mean, he is brilliant. The whole movie transformed at that point. It was changing the game in the genre, and he wouldn’t ever make a sequel if he didn’t think it was going to top it. He’s very specific, turns down so many.”
The actor went on to add on the sequel, “He just knows what he wants to do and what he wants to make. I mean, at first I’m like, ‘Oh, a sequel? Where are we going to go here?’ And I read it, and it’s just so f*cking good. It’s so good. I’m so excited. I think where you’ll meet Jay at this point is maybe not what’s expected, but it’s so cool.”

Further, she teased that “it’s just, of course, as everyone says for sequels, literally, though, is just bigger and darker and more f*cked up. Reading it was the craziest thing ever.”
As the 31-year-old refrained from giving any more details away, it is possible that the movie is in its early development. Details of the plot and other cast are still under wraps.
