Gyllenhaal recently revealed the first look of the upcoming movie and it has every reason to be excited about the project. The first look photos revealed a film slate from the camera test of the film alongside two images of its central cast. Jessie Buckley is almost unrecognizable in the image with sort of a black ink on her cheek complementing the black lipstick. The ever-radiant short blond hair added a nice contrast to her look.

Finally, Christian Bale appeared as the Frankenstein’s monster. In the black-and-white image, the actor flashes the scars and stitches of the character with a tattoo on his chest. Sure, the actor looks different but a mixed reaction erupted from fans.

The new look of Bale as Frankenstein’s monster for his The Dark Knight co-star’s film was almost good until fans spotted the tattoo on his chest. While it has confused many fans, several recounted recalling Jared Leto’s Joker look in DC. The tattoos of the actor in his DC movies were not satisfactory for the fans and the character was also criticized.

Now fans found astounding similarities between the two characters and they are not so happy about it.

Regardless, Gyllenhaal’s take on the movie on the classic monster is more than promising considering her immaculate attention to detail in her directorial debut. Also, the cast of the movie has elevated the excitement for the movie. Alongside her DC co-stars, Bale and Buckley who reunite with the director after The Lost Daughter, the upcoming movie also stars Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard.

The Bride is scheduled for 3 October 2025 release.
