Blake Lively Leads It Ends With Us

The movie follows Lily Bloom who comes to Boston to chase her dream of running her own business. She meets Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni), a smooth neurosurgeon, and they actually start developing a passionate relationship. The more in love they become with each other, the more disturbing parallels she finds between Ryle and the messed-up relationship her parents had. Suddenly, her first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), reenters her life, and now her relationship with Ryle is going to get brutally tested as she will have to make an impossible choice.

Made with a reported budget of $25 million, Lively’s It Ends with Us is set for a battle with her husband Ryan Reynold’s Marvel blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine where she had a stunning cameo as Lady Deadpool as a member of Deadpool Corps.
It Ends With Us Almost Certified Fresh At Rotten Tomatoes
While Rotten Tomatoes scores keep fluctuating until the final review from critics, It Ends with Us almost made it to a 60% score— the minimum to get certified fresh at the platform. As of writing the piece, the movie is standing at a 58% score out of 45 reviews. Here’s what critics are saying about the movie—
“‘Us’ has the power of the book driving its appeal, but there’s something about this cinematic representation of doubt and danger that makes Hoover’s work seem ridiculous, or worse when it comes to trivializing real-world pain,” Brian Orndorf, from Blu-ray.com is very critical of the film giving a D+ score. Associated Press critic Mark Kennedy said that the movie “tries to balance the realities of domestic violence inside a rom-com and a female-empowerment movie. All suffer in the process.”
BJ Colangelo from Slashfilm gave the movie a 4 out of 10 saying, “as a survivor of domestic violence myself, I’m grappling with a movie that gets so much right but is ultimately trying to grow a garden in the poisoned soil of bad source material.”
However, not all reviews are rotten, Digital Spy’s Mireia Mullor gave the movie a solid 3 out of 5 saying, “It Ends With Us might have inherited some unescapable aspects of its source material, but some smart changes and a luminous Blake Lively make up for part of it.” Tara Brady from the Irish Times also puts a similar score for a movie, “One minute Lively shakes her curls and wears the heck out of dungarees and vintage layers. The next is very different. Loyal fans will be pleased. Untold millions of BookTok users can’t be wrong, surely.”
Lena Wilson from IGN gave a solid 7 out of 10 saying, “It Ends with Us is an occasionally schlocky and saccharine novel, but Justin Baldoni’s film adaptation uses an ace script and stellar performances — particularly that of lead Blake Lively — to elevate Colleen Hoover’s story to its cinematic peak.” Comingsoon.net critic Jonathan Sim also matched the score praising the movie, “The film’s theme of how abuse occurs in generational cycles is powerful as we see Lily’s aim to break the cycle that exists so commonly in the world. All we can do throughout is hope that it ends with her.”
