Between John Wick: Chapter 4 having audiences hinging onto the end and uncertainly looking into the future of the main series, the franchise isn’t dying down just yet. That feverous ball gets picked up in form of a spin-off, Ballerina, headlined by Ana de Armas. While out at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote another film, Eden, de Armas spoke about Ballerina.

Ballerina is going to take the reins of the John Wick universe in another direction. There are still months before the release, but very soon there will be a teaser trailer to really make anticipation rise.
Speaking about the new spin-off, de Armas declared: “It’s really exciting. It’s dangerous, it’s s-xy, it’s very John Wick”. Anticipation for Ballerina is escalated further, because a promise of the “beautiful” trailer, according to de Armas, is going to drop soon. (Via Collider)
As the latest offshoot in the John Wick franchise, Ballerina focuses on de Armas’ character, Rooney, a ballerina assassin on a quest to kill those who killed her family. While the film is a prequel and takes place before the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, audiences can get ready to see some familiar stars on screen. Keanu Reeves will appear as mentioned above, as the legendary hitman known as John Wick. Also, some iconic characters are coming back, such as Anjelica Huston as the Director, Ian McShane as Winston Scott, and the late Lance Reddick, who will appear posthumously, having filmed his cameo for the film before his death.
Ana de Armas Discussed Why Reshoots Were Done

The Actress confirmed that reshoots were actually done to enhance the film and stay in tune with the spirit of the John Wick series. Reshoots, far from being a cause for alarm, mean more intense and exciting scenes in the film. de Armas herself said, “All we did in those reshoots had to be there. We got amazing footage. It’s really spectacular.” She let out a hint that the trailer, which she has seen, is something to watch out for by fans:.
It’s directed by Len Wiseman – the man behind many well-known action films – from a script by Shay Hatten. Though Wiseman is new to the John Wick franchise, the film’s star de Armas and others on Ballerina have worked hard to ensure the film meets expectations established in previous entries.
Given the talents involved, especially with Ana de Armas leading from the front, Ballerina should be that flickering tale of action and thrill that will further expand the John Wick world in ways it has never been. All eyes are on summer 2025.
