In a twist of events in WWE, Drew McIntyre who announced that he quit the company, just made a surprising return on Friday Night SmackDown. CM Punk screwed the Scottish Warrior again at the Clash at the Castle which was held in his home country as the Best in the World appeared as a crooked referee costing McIntyre’s World Heavyweight title.
Drew McIntyre Is Back
WWE fans are relieved to see Drew McIntyre again in WWE after his shocking departure from the company at the Monday Night RAW after Clash at the Castle. “Screw the company, I quit,” McIntyre announced with his emotional distress as WWE kept him further from the World Heavyweight title.

McIntyre claimed the title from the Visionary Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 but he could hold the golden belt only for five minutes as former Money In The Bank, Damian Priest cashed in for the title and came out victorious. At Clash at the Castle, McIntyre had the perfect opportunity to reclaim his much-deserved title. In a pinfall, he almost won but the match referee was unconscious. Surprisingly, CM Punk appeared as a crooked referee and screwed McIntyre, again.
SUGGESTED: Is Drew McIntyre Following Dave Bautista’s Trail?
It was certainly upsetting for the Scottish Warrior but WWE has been developing the Punk vs McIntyre storyline for quite a while. The Clash at the Castle was the ultimatum of the bad blood between the superstars. Now, that McIntyre is back, the feud is expected to accelerate even further.
Why Drew McIntyre Returned To SmackDown?
McIntyre’s quitting WWE announcement was perhaps the greatest trick in his bag. With his SmackDown return, The Scottish Warrior showed his intent that he is ready to play mind games and do whatever is necessary to take down CM Punk.
Earlier, at the post-match conference following the Clash at the Castle, Punk announced that he would not be present at the June 17 episode of RAW but would appear in SmackDown. Surprisingly, McIntyre announced that he was quitting WWE, and also deactivated his account on X (formerly Twitter). Perhaps, it was to make Punk think that he had a free pass without any threats on his way on SmackDown. But fans were shocked to see him back and most importantly, taking down Punk.

During a backstage segment of Grayson Waller and DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, the garage door suddenly opened and fans saw Punk severely beaten down. McIntyre then hoisted Punk onto his shoulders as he walked down to the arena before the crowd. Punk was soaked in Blood, later the Scottish Warrior took Punk’s ‘AJ and Larry’ bracelet. Later, Nick Aldis and other WWE officials alongside security rushed to the scene but it was too late.

McIntyre was escorted backstage while the officials and emergency team took Punk for medical care.
The Friday Night Episode of 21st June was glorious, primarily for the McIntyre surprise for Punk and of course, the addition of Jacob Fatu in The Bloodline as they unleashed terror upon Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton.
