The enthralling hype for two upcoming Avengers films— Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars has always been on the horizon as Marvel Studios slated the movies announcing the release dates. Still, Avengers 5 has been in a bit of a shackle considering the absence of Jonathan Majors as Kang but there is a positive update on the sixth installment of the franchise as insider Alex Perez shares a series of crucial updates on the movie.
Two What If… Characters Will Appear In Avengers: Secret Wars
Marvel Studios’ What If series took the MCU fans to several wonderlands as The Watcher guides us through the alternate realities of the multiverse. The show also introduced several characters including Kahhori, one of the most fascinating characters with the potential to have a charming live-action debut.
Insider Alex Perez recently visited the Cosmic Circus Discord server in a Q&A to answer fans’ queries on the upcoming projects and updates on the Marvel Studios. The insider revealed two animated characters from What If… season 2 are appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars. “Yes,” Perez answered when a user asked if any animated characters were appealing in the movie.
“I have heard of the incorporation of animated characters for the upcoming Avengers projects. Captain Carter is one and Kahhori is another. As for whether they will be animated or live-action, too early to tell,” the insider added.

As Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is out of the picture, with Captain Carter’s addition, Marvel Studios might want to fill the void albeit Sam Wilson’s Captain America bearing the torch after Rogers’ retirement. As for Kahhori, she appeared in season 2 episode 6, What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World? On What If… with a little backstory as she fought against colonization, later joined Captain Carter in the ninth episode of season 2, What If… Strange Supreme Intervened? where they fought the evil variant of Strange.
It would be fun to watch the duo in the upcoming Avengers movie. Devery Jacobs who also appeared in the MCU series for Disney+ Echo as Bonnie, voiced Kahhori’s character while Hayley Atwell has already appeared in the MCU as Peggy Carter.
More Avengers: Secret Wars Update
It is still too early to have any solid speculation for the movie as reports of Avengers 5, which will come before Secret Wars, are still vague. When a user asked Perez, “How many hero characters do you expect to show up?” he have an answer for the fans to ponder over, “They’re always finding a way to up the ante with these Avengers lineup,” Perez said. “The first movie had 6. Then the second one had 9. The third one had more than 20 Avengers and Endgame had more than 30. Just expect a bunch of heroes to show up from all corners of the multiverse” he added.

Further, while discussing the line of Avengers after Secret Wars, Perez said, “That really is tough to answer because it’s so unpredictable in the current landscape.” Of course, that’s quite understandable considering there is still a long way to go to reach the movie. “I’ve heard so many different alternatives, from soft reboots that recast fan favorite characters who have been either dead for a while, to simply just incorporating characters from other universes into the current main one and just going from there,” he added.
There has not been any recent update on Avengers: Secret Wars but as Marvel President is returning to the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con International (25 July to 28 July), we may get more info on the movie at the event.
Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for a May 7, 2027 release.
