The Taylor Swift cameo rumor was alive until the first look at Lady Deadpool’s leg in one of the teasers of Deadpool & Wolverine. Of course, the speculation was always between Swift and Blake Lively but ultimately Lively made it to the movie. While fans hailed her cameo and Gossip Girl references, some fans may be slightly disappointed about Swift’s absence. Still, director Shawn Levy has finally explained why they moved on with Lively.
Shawn Levy Commented On Taylor Swift’s Deadpool & Wolverine Rumor
The Taylor Swift rumor for Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine undeniably elevated the buzz for the character. For long, the creative marketing team also decided to play along with it. While it worked for the movie’s promotion as most stars refrained from answering the question that sparked among fans, the final revelation of the actor behind the mask was confirmed during the credit roll of the movie. During his chat with Variety, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy finally revealed that Swift was never on the card for the character.
“That was one of the loudest rumors that came out of nowhere,” Levy told the outlet acknowledging the loud rumor. “It was never true. Thank you, internet, for building such a smokescreen of rumors and half-truths so that no one ever knew what was going to happen,” he added.

Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively finally made it to the screen but she’s not alone, almost their entire family was in the Deadpool Corp scene. “It just honestly was that they were available and always nearby,” Levy said of casting Reynolds’ family in the movie as different variants of Deadpool. “A lot of times, we would call people into our edit room and have them record something. Little by little, all of the Reynoldses started being a part of the movie, including their youngest. As the proud godfather of Olin, that might be my favorite voice cameo,” he added.
Alongside Lively’s Deadpool, their firstborn and 7-year-old daughter, Inez, played Kidpool while their youngest child, 1-year-old Olin, played Babypool.
Why Ladypool Never Showed Her Face?
While fans expected the unmasking of Ladypool albeit being confirmed that it was indeed Lively behind the mask, there was no calculated plan for showing Lively’s face in Deadpool & Wolverine. “We never discussed taking off her mask. So there’s always the future,” Shawn Levy said teasing that they might bring Lively again for another future project unveiling her mask. It would certainly be a loud cheer.
“It’s definitely not a promise,” Levy soon added. “We also wanted this to be a standalone movie that leaves everything possible but serves no next movie. It is not a setup to anything, so we’ll see what happens.”
Indeed, anything can happen in the multiverse. A future movie that features Lady Deadpool or Deadpool Corps would be as much fun as their time in Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool Corps has several cool characters including Cowboy Deadpool who was played by Matthew McConaughey, Headpool played by Nathan Fillion, and several other characters ranging from Dogpool, Watari/Roninpool, Deadpool 2099, Golden Age Deadpool, to Zenpool.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing in theaters.
