Deadpool & Wolverine promotional tour is on the horizon as Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy are on a mission to sell the movie to the largest audience possible. Recently, Reynolds who has been playing Deadpool since the Foxverse Marvel movies, commented on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine as they made their MCU debut together.

Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for over 24 years. The character has been kind of synonymous with the actor who almost hung up his boots in the 2017 movie Logan as his character died in the movie. The actor once again returned to play the titular X-Men character in Ryan Reynolds starred Deadpool & Wolverine.

In their promotional tour of the highly anticipated Marvel movie, Reynolds claimed that Jackman can not be replaced as Wolverine. Of course, it would be immensely painful to see and accept another actor in the role but eventually, Jackman has to pass on the torch.

“There’s only been one Wolverine, the reason is no one can do it except Hugh Jackman,” Reynolds said (via Discussing Film). While Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine has been tremendously excelling which was also his breakout role in Hollywood, using the actor for the character even as the X-Men characters are exclusive to Marvel studios would seemingly be concerning for certain fans.

“I thought I was finished with it seven years ago,” Jackman said during a fan event in Shanghai, China (via ComicBook.com). “But as soon as we came up with this idea, I knew that this was the matchup that people wanted, that I wanted, that Ryan wanted, that fans wanted,” the actor said of returning to the role after everyone believed that he retired his claws seven years ago with James Mangold’s Logan

It is fair to assume that Marvel fans are immensely happy with Jackman’s return despite the concern that it would ruin the Logan ending but the actor previously clarified that Deadpool & Wolverine will let the Logan ending rest in piece. However, the idea of keeping Jackman’s X-Men character retained in the MCU till Avengers: Secret Wars is concerning. Of course, the actor has made the character more than impeccable popularizing with his charm to global audiences but many fans argue that the nostalgia bait might eventually turn up to be fatigue.

More to the point, many fans hailed Reynolds’ statement as well.

As for the 55-year-old, he is enjoying returning to flex his lethal claws “The experience of making the movie was also one of the greatest of my career, and I’ve been playing Wolverine for 25 years,” Jackman said (via, ComicBook.com). This experience,” he added, “exceeded anything I’ve done before as this character — and in many other movies, in anything. I loved it. And I think it shows on the screen. You can feel the warmth. The movie has a warmth to it, and it’s funny, and it’s irreverent, and the action is crazy. But I think you can feel the friendship.”

SUGGESTED: How Ryan Reynolds’ $6 Million Budget Film Become an Event Movie Being Marvel’s Only And Most Anticipated Project Of 2024?

Certainly, Jackman looks as stunning as Wolverine as ever. Also, his character has been the focal point of the narrative with Reynolds’ Deadpool. Despite all the concerns and debate, we all can agree that Deadpool & Wolverine would be a box-office smasher for Marvel Studios.

Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to release on July 26, 2024.
