The host of HeyUGuys asked producer Wendy Jacobson what was the reason behind casting Emma Corrin as Nova in the film to which Jacobson said that director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds had already a clear vision for Corrin and they have not brought anyone else’s name into consideration for the role.

Like there was no one else that was ever discussed for this role, and they were totally right. I mean, as usual, their creative instincts are bang on,” she said, adding that it was the perfect casting.

Jacobson also remarked that it was essential to find someone who could stand their ground while being both squirrely and unpredictable, yet inviting. She explained that despite Cassandra’s evident evil nature, there is an inexplicable allure due to her beauty and accent, making the audience want to trust her.

Furthermore, Jacobson noted that Emma’s slender frame, when contrasted with the two iconic actors, creates a unique and effective dynamic on screen.

Emma Corrin, renowned for their portrayal of Princess Diana, has revealed a surprising source of inspiration for their villainous character in the upcoming film. The actor, who has undergone a dramatic transformation for the role, drew influence from unexpected corners of the cinematic world.

Corrin confessed to looking beyond the realm of traditional villains for character development. They shared that Ryan Reynolds had suggested Christoph Waltz’s chilling performance as Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds as a starting point. Waltz’s Oscar-winning portrayal of the Nazi officer left an indelible mark on the character’s sinister essence.

I drew inspiration from Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds, which was Ryan’s reference when we started,” Emma told People magazine.

Corrin added, “And then not a villain, but I was really inspired by Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka. Sort of a nonchalant, detached power.”

The actor also acknowledged the weight of expectation associated with the role, given the iconic portrayals of Professor Charles Xavier by Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. Corrin expressed their desire to pay homage to these predecessors while establishing a unique interpretation. They focused on capturing the internalized power and telepathic nature of the character, as depicted by their predecessors.
