While having a chat with The Hollywood Handle, Zack Snyder revealed that Kristen Stewart’s Love Lies Bleeding is his favorite movie of 2024 so far.
“I loved Love Lies Bleeding, the A24 movie, I really loved that, I thought it was great..” He felt that the movie had excellent storytelling that was masterfully done.
The film is set in 1989 and centers on the lesbian relationship between an ambitious bodybuilder who becomes involved in organized crime and a reclusive gym manager, played by Kristen Stewart, who belongs to a criminal family
The Rose Glass directed movie also stars Katy O’Brian as Jaqueline “Jackie” Cleaver, Jena Malone as Bethany “Beth” Langston, Lou’s sister, Anna Baryshnikov as Daisy, a woman who is obsessed with Lou, Dave Franco as J.J., Beth’s husband and Ed Harris as Lou Langston Sr., Lou’s estranged father.

Kristen Stewart, who has starred in films directed by Glass, spoke highly of her experience working with the writer-director. Stewart mentioned that Saint Maud, a previous film by Glass, had a profound impact on her. “She made Saint Maud, a movie that really blew my head off. I thought it was stupendously put together, from top to bottom,” Stewart shared. This statement highlights the exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail that Glass brings to her films.
Glass’s inspiration for her work often stems from exploring the complexities of human relationships and the strength of her female characters. Stewart elaborated that Glass felt compelled to write a movie about “a strong woman,” and this motivation is evident in the dynamic between the characters in her films. Stewart described the essence of Glass’s latest film as a narrative about “a very, very strong girl and a very, very weak girl trying to get to know each other, trying to love each other.” This intricate exploration of strength and vulnerability provides a rich, emotionally charged experience for viewers.
Love Lies Bleeding, another masterpiece directed by Rose Glass, continues to showcase her unique style and thematic depth.
