Despite the unbearable critical decline his his Rebel Moon franchise for Netflix which was in astounding hype, director Zack Snyder has announced a new project set in the same universe. It appears that Snyder is still not over the franchise of two-part movies despite the record-low Rotten Tomatoes scores in his career— the first installment A Child of Fire secured only a 22% score on Tomatoemeter while the sequel The Scargiver jumped even lower claiming only 17%.
Zack Snyder Announced New Project Set In Rebel Moon Universe
Despite being a critical mess, Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon movies starring Sofia Boutella and Ed Skrein, were a mass hit as Netflix secured a record number of viewers for both the movies. Created by Snyder, the multimedia franchise is getting another installment.
The director recently took to his X handle to announce The Seneschal: A Rebel Moon Story— a podcast featuring a star-studded cast including Ella Purnell as Raina, Naveen Andrews as Grigory, Alfred Enoch as Adwin, Peter Serafinowicz as Bartholomew, and Jason Isaacs as King Ulmer.

Announcing the podcast, Snyder also shared the release date of the project, “The Seneschal: a six-part Rebel Moon podcast about the story of the first Jimmy. First episode out July 29,” the director shared in X.
The announcement also features a video where Snyder and the cast of the podcast series teased their roles. “Hi, I’m Zack Snyder, Director of Rebel Moon, and I’m excited to bring you the new podcast set in the same world as Rebel Moon but 500 years earlier,” Snyder said in the video.
What The Seneschal: A Rebel Moon Story Is About?
The podcast, as teased by Snyder will set in 500 years before the storyline of the Rebel Moon movies. Snyder also shared that “it tells the story of the creation of our robots, the Jimmys.”
The official description of the podcast on Spotify reads: “Long before the Motherworld battled the rebel army on Veldt, five hundred years before Issa was reborn, Moa and its colonies were ruled over by a mercurial and brutish despot, the mad King Ulmer. The Rebel Moon universe is expanding and Snyder is seemingly keen on rectifying the critical downfall of the Netflix movie series with more potential installments. The Seneschal: A Rebel Moon Story could be the start of a new beginning. “Now that you’ve met the Jimmys in the movie, I want to tell their story, their creation, how they came to be. I can’t wait for you to listen,” Snyder added.
The first episode of The Seneschal: A Rebel Moon Story will be released on Spotify on July 29.
