But it was his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War in 2016 that gave him the recognition. And then after, he has not looked back. He went on to star in his own film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). He also appeared in two direct sequels, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Tom Holland donning the Spider-Man suit became a household name and witnessed newfound glory. His success in the movie worked both ways. Marvel Cinematic Universe earned billions and Holland made his way straight into fans’ hearts.
But he said last year that he is not someone who ran after fame. It just happened subsequently.
While speaking in Q with Tom Power, he stated:
“After the first film came out, I remember thinking to myself — I was, I don’t know, 20 — ‘Wow, I’m famous now. This is it. This is what being famous is,'” he says. “And then the second film came out and I was like, ‘Oh, wow. I’m, like, even more famous now.’ I didn’t realize there was another gear. And that was it for me. I was like, ‘Wow, this is. This is it.”
He added:
“Now I get followed everywhere I go. There’s paparazzi that sit outside my house. I can’t have a relationship with someone without it being front page news.’ And the third film came out and it kicked up to another level, that has now been life changing.”

He also said that when he reads some newspapers writing about him, he thinks that they hardly know about him, so he does not bother what they talk about. And he relies on his close friends for honest reviews of his works.

In her recent joint interview with Vogue and British Vogue, Euphoria star Zendaya seemed very proud of her man and praised him for handling the overnight fame after his first Spider-Man film.
“We were both very, very young, but my career was already kind of going, and his changed overnight,” said Zendaya.
They both starred together in the 2017 Marvel film and its 2019 and 2021 sequels.
“One day you’re a kid and you’re at the pub with your friends, and then the next day you’re Spider-Man.”
“I definitely watched his life kind of change in front of him. But he handled it really beautifully,” the Dune star continued.
Zendaya and Holland first met in 2016 on the set of Spider-Man. And it was in 2021, that both confirmed their relationship.
