Tom Hiddleston’s return to the MCU as Loki remains uncertain after the actor last appeared in the second season of his Disney+ series, Loki. However, fans will see the actor, as he confirmed, in another hit series, the first season of which was released back in 2016. After nearly eight years, the actor will appear in The Night Manager.
Loki Star Tom Hiddleston Confirmed New Seasons Of The Night Manager
BBC Studios’ The Night Manager is renewed for two more seasons 8 years after the end of the first season in 2016. Appearing for a chat with Jimmy Kimmel on his show, Tom Hiddleston confirmed the update. “So yeah the show [The Night Manager] came out in 2016,” Hiddleston said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Well guess what this morning we announced we’re making a second and third season,” he added.
“Honestly, we were just really trying to get the story right. And um, we were talking, working very closely with John le Carré. Um, the great writer who wrote the original novel and many others who sadly passed away a few years ago and um but he’s had a huge input on the story.”
The series ended with his Carré’s novel of the same name but “alongside him and his sons, who are the producers” the show extended beyond one season.
“Honestly, the first series the first season was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I’ve ever worked on,” he added.
This is certainly great news for Hiddleston fans. While details of the show are under wraps, the actor revealed that Hugh Laurie is involved in the project as a producer but unsure if he would come back to reprise his role.
Tom Hiddleston Is Excited For The Shows Renewal
Hiddleston revealed his excitement for the renewal of The Night Manager. “I’m so looking forward to reuniting with Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David Farr and Stephen Garrett,” the actor said in a statement (via Variety). “And to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can’t wait.”
David Farr, one of the writers of The Night Manager commented on Carré’s work. “John le Carré’s work has long been an inspiration to me and working closely with him on Season 1 was an honor and a pleasure.”
“I did not tread lightly into extending ‘The Night Manager’ beyond the original book, but an idea came to me a couple of years ago which felt truthful to that unique world of dark corners and shady identities. No one marries the suspense of espionage with a deep exploration of the human soul quite like le Carré. I hope that in some way we can pay homage to his uneasy genius in this new exploration. I am thrilled to be working again with Tom Hiddleston, Stephen Garrett and The Ink Factory team, and to be welcoming the brilliant director Georgi Banks-Davies into our ranks,” he added.
The upcoming two seasons of The Night Manager will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the U.K., and Prime Video will stream the show elsewhere in the world. So far, the two seasons of the show are in development and do not have the release info.
