Sydney Sweeney is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. It’s already two movies for her in 2024. She has starred in Madame Web along with Dakota Johnson and very recently horror movie Immaculate. And, a tight schedule awaits her. It’s been 15 years she’s been in the industry and she has become a fan-favorite.
Here are all the upcoming movies and TV shows she has in the pipeline.
Eden
Sydney Sweeney is set to join Ron Howard’s Eden. The film is now in post-production. Along with Sweeney, Eden will also star the likes of Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, and Jude Law.
The story follows a group of people driven by a deep desire for change; to turn their backs on society, they leave everything behind and set their future in the harsh landscape of the Galápagos, according to IMDb.
On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Sweeney admitted that she “can’t really say much about it,” but that she is playing “a very different character than [she’s] ever played.“
According to the producers, the film “explores the human condition in ways that are unexpected, absurd, humorous, sexy, but above all thrilling and deeply suspenseful”. (Via Deadline)
Eden as of now does not have a release date.
Echo Valley
It was confirmed in 2023 that the actress will star in Echo Valley in the role of Claire. Along with Sweeney, Julianne Moore and Domhnall Gleeson will also be seen in this thriller.
The official synopsis for Echo Valley reads:
“Reeling from a personal tragedy, Kate spends her days boarding and training horses at Echo Valley Farm, twenty-two secluded, picturesque acres in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Late one night, her wayward daughter Claire arrives on her doorstep, frightened, trembling — and covered in someone else’s blood.”
The Apple TV+ film will be directed by BAFTA Award-winner Michael Pearce, known for Beast and Encounter. The project will be produced by Ingelsby, Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss of Scott Free, and Kevin Walsh for The Walsh Company.
We don’t have any release date for Echo Valley now but it is expected to come sometime in the second half of 2024.
Barbarella
The White Lotus actress will star in a new Barbarella film, replacing Jane Fonda. The story is based on the French comic of the same name created by Jean-Claude Forest.
Sweeney, back in 2022 posted a picture of Barbarella on Instagram with the caption “time to save the universe.”
On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Sweeney confirmed that the Sony-made remake is happening. She said:
“I mean, Barbarella is just such a fun character to explore. She really just embraces her femininity and her s-xuality, and I love that. She uses s-x as a weapon and I think it’s such an interesting way into a sci-fi world. I’ve always wanted to do sci-fi. So we’ll see what happens.”
No further details on the project, including a writer or director, have been announced.
The Caretaker
In 2022, Deadline reported that Sweeney is to star in and produce The Caretaker. Karl Gajdusek known for Oblivion will write the adaptation.
Nothing much about this project has been out yet.
The Players Table
Sydney Sweeney has confirmed her involvement in the TV Series The Player’s Table, an adaptation of Jessica Goodman’s bestselling debut novel They Wish They Were Us.
In a chat with Collider, Sweeney, when asked about the show and whether there is any real hope that this will happen, she said: “Yes, there is.“
Any other information regarding this project is not out.
Euphoria Season 3
The most anticipated project of Sweeney. During a recent interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, the actress confirmed that she will soon come back for the third season of Euphoria, the show that made her famous.
“I always feel like I go home,” she said of the series. “It’s like home when I go back to it. I like it. I’m excited, it’s like family.”
