Johnny Depp, who has been facing a rough phase following his trial against Amber Heard reportedly will team up with Hollywood’s new heartthrob Sydney Sweeney. They will headline a supernatural thriller: Day Drinker.
This was reported by insider, Jeff Sneider (via The InSneider). It’s been said that the movie will be based on an original story by Zach Dean and will explore the themes of love, friendship, and revenge, per Consequence Film. Further details on plot, and cast have not been released.
This film will mark Depp’s one of the first major projects since winning his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2021. Most recently, he portrayed King Louis XV in the 2023 historical drama, Jeanne du Barry. He also directed a film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, which is currently in post-production.
Meanwhile, Sweeney is delivering powerpack performance one after another. She has come with recent successes like Anyone But You, Immaculate, and her SNL hosting gig.

Sydney Sweeney got so much backlash following the report published on The InSneider. Fans of the actress questioned her choice to star opposite Johnny Depp who has been controversial recently. Fans took to X to share that they won’t watch the movie.
Depp, though has cleared off all allegations against Amber Heard, another co-star Lola Glaudini, who starred alongside Depp in the 2001 crime thriller Blow, alleged Depp of having “accosted her.” As she told Powerful Truth Angels podcast, Depp even showered profanities on her and asked her to “shut up” on things where she was not guilty.
And, that is the reason, some fans think Sydney Sweeney will also have to go through such an incident. Hence she got all the backlash even after her recent powerful performances. And then, her team said that this was a false report.
