Today, Timothée Chalamet does not need any introduction. He has made his name with his performances in Call Me by Your Name, Wonka or Little Women. However, it was Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies that earned him fame worldwide. But it seems like Chalamet will not put on a cap very soon as one Hollywood icon advised him not to do any superhero movies.

The majority of actors in Hollywood strive to be a part of a superhero movie. Given the glamor and subsequent fan following, for most, it’s a dream. However, some have no intention to take that path.

Timothée Chalamet rose to fame and he once even auditioned to play Spider-Man in the 2017 movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. But, he has never done a Marvel movie or teamed up with DC. The reason? He was advised not to go for a superhero movie by one of Hollywood’s tallest figures.

During an interview with Time magazine a few years back, Chalamet shared one interesting piece of advice he received from one of his “heroes.”

“One of my heroes — I can’t say who or he’d kick my a-s — he put his arm around me the first night we met and gave me some advice: No hard drugs, and no superhero movies.”

The “hero” was none other than Leonardo DiCaprio. Chalamet revealed to British Vogue that it was the advice from his Don’t Look Up co-star. DiCaprio won his first and only Academy Award for the performance of a frontiersman in the 1800s who fights and kills a bear in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s The Revenant.

Also, recently he again said that in an interview with The New York Times while on the press tour for Dune: Part Two:

“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good,” Chalamet said.

“I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, ‘The Dark Knight.’ If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

SUGGESTED: There Will Be ‘Dune 3’ But Under One Strict Condition, Says Denis Villeneuve

Till now, rather than confine his name to one particular franchise, Chalamet has proven his acting range doing different movies. But never say never, right? Who knows, what comes next?

Yes, the Dune star would be ready to break Dicaprio’s warning to not do a superhero movie, but there is one solid condition.

The American-French actor is very busy nowadays. And it seems like, his desire to make a superhero film is not completely closed though he got a sacred warning from Dicaprio.

During the interview with the New York Times, Chalamet spoke about the impact Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight had on him. Stating that this was the movie that inspired him to take acting as a profession.

So, he thinks, if he gets a strong screenplay and an acclaimed director, he will be ready to go against DiCaprio’s warning.

“The movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

By the way, it will be exciting to see Chalamet becoming the central character in another big franchise. Maybe a big MCU role? Well, it’s all about time. Till then, watch Dune: Part Two on Apple TV+ starting on April 16.
