George Clooney and Brad Pitt together in a film must be expensive, right? Well, it was until it wasn’t. A recent report created a discussion making us think that Wolfs‘ budget was unbelievably high. However, later Clooney clarified that the report was not valid and their salaries from the movie were far lowered than the report claimed.
George Clooney Dismissed His and Brad Pitt’s Wolfs Salary Report
A recent “interesting article” by The New York Times claimed that George Clooney and Brad Pitt were each paid more than $35 million for Wolfs while Watts got a little over $15 million paycheck. The outlet said that three sources claimed the same thing about their salary with a condition of anonymity which is not uncommon. However, Clooney is not in agreement with the claim.
During his Venice Film Festival press conference, the actor said that it was far from reality. “Whatever her source was for our salary, it is millions and millions and millions of dollars less than what was reported,” Clooney shared (via Deadline). “And I am only saying that because I think it’s bad for our industry if that’s what people think is the standard bearer for salaries. I think that’s terrible, it’ll make it impossible to make films” he added.

However, he did not reveal his salary or Pitts or that of the director who could not attend the movie’s premiere as he was infected with COVID. “He flew all the way here and he got Covid and he’s now in bed,” Clooney told the press.
Wolfs Claimed 5-Minute Ovation At Venice Film Festival
Wolfs was premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 1 and the audience cheered the movie with a five-minute, 35-second ovation. Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch who were in the audience congratulated the actors on the movie which has already gained a stunning buzz among fans.
As for the release of the movie, Wolfs will hit the theaters on September 20th for a limited release and will debut Apple TV+ on September 27, just a week after its theatrical release. Although the actors are quite unhappy with the decision of limited release, they certainly have faith in the rise of streaming services and the movie will serve its purpose on small screens as well. “Yes, we wanted it to be released, we’ve had some bumps along the way, that happens,” Clooney said at the press conference at the festival. “There are elements of this that we are figuring out… It is a bummer, of course it’s a bummer. On the other hand, a lot of people are going to see the film and we are getting a release in a few hundred theaters, but, yeah, it would have been nicer to have a wide release,” he added (via Deadline).

With Wolfs, Clooney, and Pitt marked 23 years of onscreen collaboration since Steven Soderbergh’s acclaimed and box office hit crime comedy Ocean’s Eleven. “We kind of figured there’s gotta be a good reason to get back in a film together, something we feel like we could build upon what we’ve done before,” Pitt told the press. “But also, I gotta say, as I get older, working with the people that I just really enjoy spending time with has really become important to me,” he added.
Wolfs hits theatres on September 20, 2024; and is set to have Apple TV+ debut on September 27.
