Kit Harington had a wonderful run in HBO’s superhit show Game of Thrones where he played Jon Snow. As HBO made a prequel series of Game of Thrones, Harrington recently shared that he will never watch the prequel that has just concluded its second season run.
Kit Harington Will Never Watch House of the Dragon
There would seemingly be no argument that House of the Dragon has enjoyed almost a similar fame as its sequel series. However, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington recently shared that he will refrain from watching the new flagship show at HBO that chronicles the events 197 years before Game of Thrones’ first season. In his recent chat with the Associated Press, the actor candidly explained the real reason behind it.
“I just can’t watch it,” Harington said. “For me, I spent too long there, and I wish them all the best. I hear it’s wonderful and going really well, but I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show,” he added.
The actor further stated that he is unsure if he will ever watch his own show Game of Thrones again, “I don’t think I’ll watch Game of Thrones again for many years. It’s taken a few years to put it in the rearview mirror, and I’m still unsure whether it is fully in the rearview. I think it takes a long time.”
Harrington is more interested in doing a show that will allow him to develop the full character arc. “Now felt like the right time to get into doing a full character arc, rather than just an episode of this, an episode of that, or a movie arc. I wanted to do a TV character arc again.”
It appears that Harington is over with Game of Thrones and anything orbiting around the show. Game of Thrones is reportedly getting another spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel to Harington’s show that will take place 100 years after House of the Dragon and a century before Game of Thrones which is slated for 2025 release.
Kit Harington Says His Kids May Never Watch Game of Thrones
Harington is now on a promotional tour of the third season of HBO’s Industry where he played Henry Muck, CEO of green tech energy company Lumi. Ahead of the season three premiere of the show. The actor also had a quick chat with E! News and he was asked if he would allow his kids to watch Game of Thrones. “I don’t think they’ll want to watch Game of Thrones,” he said.
“No, I mean, think about it. They like their mom and dad in something, right? But they’ll be like, ‘No, I absolutely guarantee you, they’ll probably never want to see that show.’”
Harington married his Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie who played Ygritte, a wildling woman Harington’s Jon Snow encountered while traveling beyond the Wall. The duo fell in love during the filming of its second season and tied the knot on June 23, 2018. The couple shares two children, a boy and a girl.
Harington further stated that his kids would be “deeply uncomfortable” watching their parents’ love story unfold on screen that later became a real-life love story.
Industry season 3 premiers on Aug 18, 2024 on HBO. Stream Game of Thrones and two seasons of House of the Dragon on Max.
