Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis’s first teaser is out and it has created quite a buzz among. Fans had a glimpse of what the movie could entail showing Adam Driver attempting to play with time. Of course, Megalopolis is one of the most ambitious projects of the veteran director but the movie was deemed more close for Coppola as he dedicated the first teaser to one special person.
Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis Is Dedicated To His Late Wife
Hollywood veteran and director behind The Godfather and several other iconic movies including Apocalypse Now has recently teased the teaser of his most ambitious movie Megalopolis. The director dedicated the movie to his late wife Eleanor Coppola. The couple tied the knot in 1963 and stayed married for 61 years. Coppola took to his Instagram to share the teaser dedicating the movie to his wife.
“Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife Eleanor. I really had hoped to celebrate her birthday together this May 4th. But sadly that was not to be, so let me share with everyone a gift on her behalf,” the director captioned.
Previously, the director posted a throwback photo of him and Eleanor captioning, “The love of my life.”
To Eleanor’s credit, she was also a filmmaker with an Emmy and a DGA Award for directing Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse— a documentary based on the making of Coppola’s 1979 classic Apocalypse Now. She wrote and directed Coda: Thirty Years Later. In 2016, Elenor wrote and helmed Alec Baldwin and Diane Lane starrer romance comedy, Paris Can Wait.
Sofia Coppola’s Mother Influenced Most Of Her Works
The Coppola family has indulged in the movie business. Elenor and Fransis’ children Roman and Sofia Coppola also went on to become directors but for Sofia, her mother has a profound influence on her works. “My mom is more of a quiet observer,” Sofia told Deadline during her promotional tour of A24 romance drama Priscilla starring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny.
“Which I think I’ve taken from her into my work. I think that comes through; that aspect of her personality, or what I’ve inherited from her. That side of myself is deeply connected to her. She also exposed us to contemporary art that she was into, and showed us things. People don’t see it as much, but she’s definitely had a big impact on me, and I feel lucky that I have sides of my personality and my approach that come from each of them — my mother and my father,” she added.
Of course, the influence and legacy of Eleanor deserve attention, and her family including her husband and daughter intends to honor that. With Coppola’s Megalopolis dedication, Eleanor will remain in the hearts of fans.
