Can you imagine a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Johnny Depp? Depp and the franchise has been two sides of one coin from its inception. However the recent report gives fans a shock as after nearly seven years, the makers now want to make a reboot of the movie. Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed this in a recent interview with ComicBook.com and fans are not happy. Why? Well, we all know!
Next Pirates of the Caribbean Movie Will Be a Reboot, Confirmed Producer Jerry Bruckheimer
We have last seen a movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that has grossed $4.5 billion across five movies in 2017. And, as everyone was waiting for the sixth installment, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has got some updates and it’s not good news for the fans of the beloved franchise.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the producer said that works on a Pirates of the Caribbean sequel is going on. “We’re gonna reboot Pirates,” he told ComicBook.com.
“We’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”
It’s been seven years since Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the last film in the franchise was released. It starred Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem and Kaya Scodelario. And from the comment of the producer, it is most likely that Disney is moving forward without Johnny Depp.
Fans Commented On The Future of Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise
Just after Johnny Depp was accused of domestic violence on his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard, Disney abandoned him and he felt betrayed by this.
During the defamation trial Depp made it clear that he won’t work for Disney in future. “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?” Amber Heard’s attorney Ben Rottenborn asked Depp back in April 2021. “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn,” Depp replied.
He won the case but his association with the studio seemingly came to an end. And as the franchise comes up with rebooted movie now, fans think no Johnny Depp, no certainty of box-office success for them.

If Johnny Depp is not the main character then we will be canceling everything Disney related

Really don’t love this move. The reason the original movies were so special was largely because of the way Johnny Depp was able to portray Jack Sparrow.
Gonna be tough to find someone else that will be able to do it as well as he did. pic.twitter.com/GPDWas2YEw

Depp earned an Oscar nomination for playing Jack Sparrow in the original 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Later, one source told PEOPLE that “Anything is possible. If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.” We will have to wait, don’t know how long to see Depp again donning the kooky swashbuckler’s hat, or maybe he will never return! Only time will tell.
