The Crown‘s popularity has been on the roof since the show’s debut on Netflix in 2016. Several stars have landed on the show that chronicled the history of the Royal Family. Emma Corrin who played the younger version of Diana, Princess of Wales recently revealed that she did not watch the fifth season after her departure from the show in the previous season.

The Crown ended by the end of 2023 with 60 episodes over the course of six seasons of the historical drama. Emma Corrin played Princess of Wales and the actor completed her tenure in season 4 of the show. Following her departure, however, Corrin could not watch the fifth season as she recently revealed in her chat with Elizabeth Debicki on Variety’s Actors on Actors who played the same character in the later seasons.

Corrin was candid enough to explain that she was devastated by the emotion it carried, “I didn’t watch Season 5 as it came out,” she revealed. “I’m going to confess that, because it was emotionally a lot,” Corrin explained about the emotional burden that prevented her from watching the show as it came out.

But had no problem watching season six, “I watched as 6 came out — and I found it heartbreaking and incredibly empowering to see her in her happiness. That freedom and that sense of herself that I had spent a lot of Season 4 not being able to present, knowing it was there.”

Both Corrin and Debicki played the character with the utmost sincerity, their portrayal of the different versions of the character added the necessary layers to the very depth of the narrative of the Netflix flagship show. Both the actors claimed Golden Globes awards for their performance playing the character.

Corrin played Diana in The Crown well before Debicki but the 28-year-old never had any intention to shower Debicki with an ocean of advice. Following her appearance on Netflix’s sexy romance drama Lady Chatterley’s Lover playing the title character Constance “Connie” Reid, aka Lady Chatterley which was based on acclaimed 20th-century novelist D. H. Lawrence’s book of the same name, the actor told Today about her departure from The Crown. “I know Elizabeth,” Corrin previously told the outlet. “We’ve shared with a lot of mutual friends, we have never talked about Diana.”

“I think it’s, I think we thought we are always there if he we wanted to. I would never want to force advice upon her. I think, the beautiful thing about ‘The Crown’ and we have seen it in all situations is the different series, the progress, the change. The lovely thing is each new actor brings a new sort of perspective, a new life force to a character. there is something really beautiful in that.”
