The Crown stars Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki who played the same characters in the Netflix flagship show appeared on the recent episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors and the duo discussed their moments from the hit show that chronicled the history of the Royal Family. In the very discussion, the actors also stumbled upon the conversation that bothers most of the celebrities and that is paparazzi. But Debicki has a unique way to deal with that.
Paparazzi Is The Worst Thing For Emma Corrin
For almost every celebrity, dealing with Paparazzi is the most difficult thing and Emma Corrin was no exception. The Deadpool & Wolverine star Corrin who is set to appear as Cassandra Nova, the villain of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s most anticipated MCU flick, recently revealed that the worst part of her The Crown fame was dealing with paparazzi.
She could resonate the same with her character as well. Appearing on Variety’s Actors on Actors, Corrin told Elizabeth Debicki about appearing for the post-engagement interview of her character, Diana. “The most quintessential bit, for me, was the post-engagement interview,” Corrin shared. “The mannerisms that she had, they appear in the moment where she’s under such intense emotional stress. They almost become tics,” she added.
Of course, The Royals are always being chased by paparazzi, “In scenes where Diana’s being chased by paparazzi, I’ve had that a little bit,” Corrin added. “It’s so invasive, and I’ve experienced it personally, and it’s the worst thing in the world. How did you manage with those scenes?” the 28-year-old asked Debicki. But Debicki who also faced the same in her life, has a trick to deal with that.
How Elizabeth Debicki Deals With Paparazzi?
Elizabeth Debicki who has The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Night Manager, and Tenet to her credit revealed her wonderful method to deal with paparazzi. “I treated them like stunts,” the Australian actor told Corrin.
“So I carved the physical path out so I knew what my body had to do. And then would let myself respond. For me, it’s very physical. You don’t have to act very much.”
Still, Debicki does not reject the truth of the horrendous way that Diana was chased. “It was an extraordinarily horrendous, appalling, abusive thing that happened to this human being,” Debicki said of her character in The Crown. “And I think the fact that that culture of chasing people still exists, and there are no laws against it that protect you, is astonishing to me. We have not learned anything from it.”
The 33-year-old who won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Princess of Wales, Diana, is all set to star in Ti West’s A24 slasher horror MaXXXine starring alongside Mia Goth.
Stream The Crown on Netflix.
MaXXXine is slated for July 5, 2024 release.
