Kirsten Dunst Is Still Getting the Coconut Cake From Tom Cruise
Kirsten Dunst and Tom Cruise starred in Interview with a Vampire (1994) along with Brad Pitt and she recently recalled that even after 30 years, she still gets the ‘Tom Cruise cake.’
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dunst spoke about receiving this gift for 30 years continuously.
“Still getting that cake,” Dunst told ET. It is not the first time, the Bring It On actor discussed that famous $126 white chocolate coconut bundt cake made by Doan’s Bakery in Woodland Hills, Calif.
During her appearance on The Graham Norton Show in 2016, host Graham Norton asked her if “Tom Cruise kept in touch since then.”
She replied, “Yeah, he gives me a cake every Christmas. We call it the Cruise cake at my house. It’s just as coconut cake.”
“It’s the best coconut cake I’ve ever had in my life from Doan’s bakery in the valley so sorry everybody, in England you can’t have it unless you go to California. It’s really good. And yeah, we get it every Christmas. Like all our family’s like Cruise cake is here, it’s like a major thing. That night we’re like oh, thank you Tom. Yum love it.”
“He has kept it going for a really long time, which is impressive. I’ve never given anyone a gift for that length of time except for my parents,” she added.
“Jesse gets the cakes so we double up on our cakes,” she spoke of her husband, Jesse Plemons, who worked alongside Tom Cruise in 2017’s American Made.
Kirsten Dunst Recalled How Tom Cruise Helped Her in Her Audition for the Breakout Role
Spider-Man actor Kirsten Dunst has got all the praise for Tom Cruise. She was just 12 years old when she landed the role of Claudia in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire when she was 12, opposite stars Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
In a Netflix video back in 2021, Dunst spoke about how she got help from the Mission Impossible star during her audition for the part.
“I auditioned many, many times for this role. This was also a huge deal for me. This was my, you know, breakout role,” Dunst said.
“And then I had another screen test after that with Tom Cruise, and I remember I was the tallest of all the young girls. He had to pick each one of us up and, like, carry us around just to see how we looked Tom and who looked the most childlike, I guess.”
“I remember Tom whispering to me, like, ‘Tuck your legs under’ so I’d look as tiny as possible ’cause I was the tallest girl,” the actress continued.
“So I knew he was kind of like rooting for me. We were both from New Jersey, and I think, you know, he was like, ‘Let this Jersey girl have it.’ “
Dunst earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her work in Interview with the Vampire.
Civil War will be released in theaters on April 12.
