In the viral video, a fan asks Chase if he had been on the Disney Channel. “Nickelodeon,” Chase responds, before explaining that he appeared on Ned’s Declassified. When the fan recognises him, Chase gives his full name.
The video went viral. The attention led to a GoFundMe campaign intended to help Chase with basic necessities. The fundraiser reportedly raised more than $1,200 before being shut down at the request of his mother. She explained:
“Tylor needs medical attention not money. But he refuses it. I appreciate your effort. But money would not be a benefit to him. I have gotten him several phones, but he loses them within a day or two. He can’t manage money for his meds by himself.”
Former co-stars speak on Tylor Chase’s struggles
Chase’s situation was later addressed by his former co-stars on the Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide. Daniel Curtis Lee described his reaction after seeing the footage.
“It was a lot to process for me,” he said. “When I first saw it, I was angry, because I was like why put a camera in someone’s face when they are on hard times?”
“But then, after I was angry at the people who were filming it, I was upset with myself in that I feel powerless. I feel like there’s not much I can do.”
Lindsey Shaw, who has spoken openly about her own past struggles with addiction, offered a personal reflection. “I’ve been somebody like that,” she admitted. Devon Werkheiser stressed that public appearances or interviews were not the priority.
“Yeah, we’re all hoping we can get Tylor on a better path, we’ll see what we can do here,” Lee said. Werkheiser added, “That’s not at all what needs to happen here. There’s a lot more that needs to happen before that.”
