Recently, the report of three MCU projects including Ant-Man 4, Captain Marvel 3, and Eternals 2 being canceled created a shockwave among fans. The report further revealed that Marvel Studios is keen on investing in guaranteed projects and as the box office numbers of these films are below expectations, the eminent end of the projects was always in question. Still, these movies have a dominant fanbase the cancelation update was frustrating for them. However, a new report claims that the movie has not been canceled but transformed into another project.
Eternals 2 Revived?
The survival of the Eternals 2 was in question as the first installment of the movie did not land on a promising note. Marvel Studios has been known for their back-to-back blockbusters but a few movies failed to impress the executives including Eternals.
The Chloé Zhao-directed movie has a promising cast with industry veterans Angelina Jolie, and Salma Hayek leading the group of superheroes. The movie also stars Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington and Richard Madden alongside Gemma Chan, Ma Dong-seok, and a lot of prominent faces.
The post-credit scene of the 2021 movie opened the room for Harry Styles’ MCU debut starring him as the brother of Thanos, Eros. However, the movie is still not far from the darkness of cancellation. Also, the movie has started the footing for Harington’s Black Knight. Will that ever happen? It is hard to tell but again, there is no official confirmation from the studio to completely nullify the survival of the movie to extend to a sequel. While the previous report hinted at the pruning of the sequel, the new report claims that the movie will just transform into a new one. The extent of it is still under wraps.

Marvel Boss Was All In For Eternals 2
The fate of the Eternals 2 was not in similar uncertainty as it is now. Previously, Marvel Boss Kevin Feige revealed that he was rooting for the sequel of the movie with Styles’ potential future in the MCU. Chatting with Entertainment Tonight the Marvel President revealed that Eternal 2 was very much on the card.
“He’s excited. We’re excited. We will see. You introduce a lot of new characters in a lot of movies and a lot of tags. Where do the tag folk reappear? That’s a good question,” Feige said.
But the problem with the cosmic epic remained as Marvel Studios has refrained from establishing the characters in light for the fans to digest the context and connect it with the grand narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the movie dropping out of thin air, the movie did hold some importance and the continuation of it would make every sense. So, will there be more to the story? Only time will tell, MCU has yet to address the recently leaked reports.
