In a shocking and electrifying moment at WWE SummerSlam 2025, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE after over a year of absence. Just as John Cena and Cody Rhodes concluded a brutal, emotional street fight, the Beast Incarnate stormed into MetLife Stadium, reigniting his storied rivalry with Cena and instantly setting the WWE Universe on fire. His return creates a buzz among fans on social media as he ended the long speculation of his return to WWE.
Brock Lesnar’s Return Ends Silence and Launches a New Chapter For John Cena

The night was already unforgettable. Cody Rhodes had just conquered John Cena to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship in what many called one of the most emotionally and physically draining main events in recent memory. The two superstars battled with everything from steel steps to announcer tables, and even a flying Cross Rhodes through a table. In a moving post-match moment, Rhodes saluted Cena and received the title from him, along with what looked like words of admiration.

But just as Cena stood alone in the ring, soaking in a potential final SummerSlam farewell, Brock Lesnar’s music hit. MetLife Stadium erupted with cheers and surprise. Dressed in a new cowboy get-up, Lesnar marched to the ring, eyes locked on Cena. He shed his jacket, stepped in, and— without uttering a single word— hit Cena with a thunderous F5.
It was a return eerily similar to Lesnar’s 2012 WWE comeback, where he targeted Cena with the very same move after nearly a decade away.
But unlike that triumphant return, this comeback is clouded with controversy.
Brock Lesnar’s Return Was WWE’s Calculated Risk

Lesnar’s re-emergence comes following legal turmoil involving former WWE employee Janel Grant. In an amended lawsuit filed earlier this year, Grant named Brock Lesnar as a figure allegedly used by Vince McMahon in a disturbing attempt to manipulate contract negotiations.
The document claims McMahon “offered” Grant to Lesnar as a sexual enticement to get him to re-sign in 2021, and also alleges that explicit content— including a video of her urinating— was requested by Lesnar under pressure from WWE leadership (per Bleacher Report).
Though Lesnar is not named as a defendant, the implications are severe and remain unresolved. His name had not surfaced in the original complaint but was formally added in January 2025.
WWE had kept Lesnar off-screen since SummerSlam 2023, reportedly under direct legal advisement. But with Cena planning to retire at the end of the year, WWE appears ready to gamble on the drawing power of one final Lesnar-Cena showdown— despite the backlash.
Daniel Cormier, UFC Hall of Famer, added fuel to the fire when he said, “Brock is on the banned list right now. Brock got into so much trouble. You know what Brock did. I ain’t telling you on air what Brock did.” While he stopped short of details, fans connected the dots.
For many, this sets up the perfect final feud: Cena’s last run against the man who’s haunted him for over a decade. But for others, WWE’s decision to bring Lesnar back raises ethical questions that the company has yet to address publicly.
Regardless, Brock Lesnar is back. And with Cena’s farewell tour in motion, the stage is set for one more war.
