Tom Hardy has apparently made it clear that Venom: The Last Dance is his final film in the franchise. However, the actor has not gotten over his alien parasite BFF as he recently shared that he and his Venom 3 director Kelly Marcel were considering making a Logan-like gritty R-rated superhero movie. While the third installment of the movie has received poor critical reception, Hardy’s recent comment appears to have more in the franchise, at least another gritty movie.

Tom Hardy has played Eddie Brock in Sony and Marvel’s shared universe franchise, Venom. While the actor has been teasing that Venom: The Last Dance would be his final film in the movie series, his recent comment on making a Logan-like Venom movie has extended the hype further. In a recent interview with The Wrap, Hardy and Venom 3 director Kelly Marcel discussed that they thought of making an R-rated movie similar to the Hugh Jackman-starrer Marvel movie.

“Oh yeah!” Hardy told The Wrap when asked about if they ever thought of making a Logan-styled movie. Marcel added the excitement saying, “We’re desperate to do that! Desperate!”

Hardy went on to add, “We’ve already got that. We envisioned that on ‘Venom 2.’ We’re already there. We’re quick as well. It’s like we’ve got four or five movies already on the side, in different tones, with multiple characters. If you ask us to do something. We’re not shy, but we have to edit down to what the mission statement is. We’re both busy heads. If we say we’re going to do something, we mean it.

However, Hardy has previously teased that Venom 3 would be his final film in the franchise which added further confusion on the matter. Still, it is unclear if he would go for another installment in the movie series.

Tom Hardy And Kelly Marcel Have Long Time Collaborators

Tom Hardy and Venom 3 director Kelly Marcel go way back. “I’ve been collaborating with Kelly since I was twentysomething,” Hardy told The Wrap. Hardy shared that he has a profound trust in Marcel’s creative instincts. For the 47-year-old, Marcel is one of the few people in the industry who truly understands where he’s coming from, especially during moments when he struggles to articulate his thoughts. Hardy sees her as someone who instinctively “knows where all the bodies are buried” creatively.

“That’s twentysomething years of evolving and working. We did ‘Bronson’ together. Kelly wrote all of ‘Bronson’ and from that moment, we’ve always wanted to play surrealism and naturalism and the chaos and the colorful nature of the panorama of optionality that comes with bonkers. Whether that’s R-rated with ‘Bronson,’ or if that’s in this situation with a bombastic character like Venom and Eddie. In the panoply of superheroes of Marvel, she has a unique voice and a unique sensibility to her, from ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ all the way through to ‘Bronson’ to ‘Venom.’ Her mind is incredible and she can conjure ideas,” Hardy said.

Hardy further admires Marcel’s decision-making and the comfort she brings to the set, something which he revealed rarely experienced even with esteemed directors. “But with somebody like Kelly, her level of professionalism is so high that the fact that she wouldn’t need to do a short film or an advert to prep and show her skill and capability as a director, this is her first movie like she came in and handled a sequel of a huge franchise,” Hardy said of Marcel. He further stated that Venom 3 is a testament to her. Also he is glad that he “spotted her all of those years ago,” and he “could ride in on her wings.”
