The Wild Robot is making a huge discussion as the movie has received wide positive reactions from critics after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Director Chris Sanders brought another fantastic and wild sci-fi adventure ride with the movie starring Lupita Nyong’o and Pedro Pascal. In a recent interview, however, the director named a Marvel movie that has been a game-changer which he felt really stood out.

Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has to be one of the greatest animated movies based on Marvel Comics. Directed by Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti, and Rodney Rothman, the movie explored the titular Spider-Man, Miles Morales giving fans a fresh Spider-Man hero with stunning visuals complementing the narrative that claimed 97% Rotten Tomatoes score and 87% Metacritic rating.
The Wild Robot director, Chris Sanders recently had a chat with Polygon for the movie that acquired a wave of positive reaction from the audience at TIFF. Amid his conversation, Sanders said that the Spider-Verse movie or the franchise stood out as special. “I think I would be surprised if anybody didn’t say Spider-Verse in answering that question,” Sanders told Polygon.
“That film was such a wake-up call,” the director continued. “And it put everybody on notice that things have changed. That was a sea change. The second one came out, and was equally as fantastic. But the first Spider-Verse, I think everybody was buzzing about that after they saw it. You couldn’t stop talking about the look of it, and the style and the feel of it. I’m so glad that it actually it had a great box office and it was recognized at awards season.”
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards, winning the same at the 76th Golden Globe Awards and several awards has made the movie an absolute stunner.
Chris Sanders Explains How He Approach Future Of Animation

Animated movies have equally been the dominator of the box office as live-action. The genre has also enjoyed equal fandom over the years. With the constantly evolving technology, filmmakers have been delivering several wonderful titles earning their respective studios top dollars. And there is no doubt, the future of animation is at a perfectly clean road. The Wild Robot director recently told Polygon about how he would approach animation in the future.
“I’d love to see it go in all sorts of directions,” Sanders said. “We finally escaped the gravitational pull of planet CG, and I feel like we’re all free to maneuver. So just myself, personally, I cannot wait to explore different styles, depending on the type of story that we’re telling,” he continued.
He further acknowledged the prowess and the healthy state of animated movies. “Animation is more alive and well than ever before. One of the things I’m getting such a kick out of is seeing how animated films are really doing well this year in the theaters. They’re some of the best films this year, flat-out, right?”
Sanders added, “I love seeing animated films get their due as far as just good audience participation. I think that tackling more serious subject matter… You can tell a story for any audience, any age group, as long as you’re aware of what age group you’re speaking to. You can capitalize things.”
His latest film, The Wild Robot “actually tackles some pretty grown-up stuff and some pretty heavy themes, but we do it in a way that is understandable and digestible to anyone. So I think just broadening the spectrum of the types of stories that we tell.”
The Wild Robot is slated for a Sept. 27 theatrical release.
