Jennifer Garner’s Elektra return was certainly one of the many surprises Deadpool & Wolverine pulled off. Garner returned alongside Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Channing Tatum’s first appearance as Gambit, and Dafne Keen’s Laura in the League of Mighty Heroes in the Void who later aids Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool and Wolverine. Now, in a recent post on his X account, Reynolds gave a beautiful tribute to Garner.
Ryan Reynolds Hailed Jennifer Garner After Her Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo
Ryan Reynolds who previously worked with Jennifer Garner in Shawn Levy’s The Adam Project for Netflix made a stunning cameo as Elektra in Marvel’s latest and only 2024 movie Deadpool & Wolverine. Her return to the character was hailed by fans and now Reynolds has showered a few good words on the actor.
“This Jen Garner person. She has a black belt in kindness but has inside her: an unblinking hurricane of vengeance,” Reynolds wrote on X adding a trademark emoji at the end of the line.
“I’ve worked with Jen twice now. She brings a completely different scope of skills to each movie but can’t hide one detail: I don’t care how talented someone is… you can’t hide humanity. She’s not only one of my favourite performers, she’s one of my favourite people. I love her and I will now and always, owe her one. Five. What a baller. #ElektraForever,” he added.

Garner first appeared as Elektra in Mark Steven Johnson’s 2003 action movie Daredevil under the 20th Century Fox. She appeared alongside her former husband Ben Affleck. Two years later, the actor got her standalone movie Elektra which was directed by Rob Bowman.
Jennifer Garner Knew Her Return As Elektra In The Adam Project
Garner recently took to her Instagram to share her journey to return as Elektra after 15 years. “I remember the moment @slevydirect n [Shawn Levy] and @vancityreynolds [Ryan Reynolds] had the idea for Elektra Natchios to show up in @deadpoolmovie 3 [Deadpool & Wolverine],” Garner wrote in the lengthy caption of a video of her training process to be Marvel fit for the role.
“We were on the set of The Adam Project and they gave each other this look they have that can communicate an idea, 20 pages of dialogue, nuclear codes— there is a crazy artistic kismet between those two,” she continued.
“Other than trying to convince my kids’ preschool buddies that I was secretly a ninja, I hadn’t picked up Elektra’s sais since 2004; I was fit, but not @marvel fit. As this impossible dream became reality, my bestie and OG stunt double @shaunaduggins and I amped up our training, led by @bethjnicely at @thelimitfit: 1x/day, plus whatever homework she assigned for a second workout. Boxing 3x/ week with @flvcothefuture from @matchroomxchurchillgym. And lots and lots of @onepeloton’s @becsgentry. We had #SuperHeroSummer over here, twirling sais in the backyard and laughing at our sore old bodies.”
Reynolds and Levy were looking for a much-deserved ending for Elektra and Deadpool & Wolverine was perfect for it. “I didn’t know that Elektra and I needed an ending, but Shawn and Ryan did,” Garner wrote.
The actor also acknowledged her co-stars, “They are gifted in many ways, but seeing and elevating people around them is at the top of the list. Shauna and I were in heaven on set with them, with my old pal @thehughjackman [Hugh Jackman], @dafnekeen [Dafne Keen], @channingtatum [Channing Tatum], @realwesleysnipes [Wesley snipes].”
Finally, the 52-year-old shared that shooting the fight scenes “was so fun, being there all together—truly like a dream,” adding, “I’m proud of my friends and grateful to be up there with them. Thank you doesn’t cut it, guys, but it’s a good placeholder until I figure out what does.”
Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing in cinemas.
