It is fascinating how Marvel Studios is not letting fans turn their eyes anywhere else. While Deadpool & Wolverine has been maintaining the buzz, the recent teaser drop of Captain America: Brave New World has kept MCU in the loop as the center of discussion among fans. As Deadpool & Wolverine is close to hitting the theaters, director Shawn Levy shared that he was over the moon as Marvel Boss Kevin Feige made one subtle demand.
Shawn Levy Revealed One Kevin Feige Demand That Made His Pretty Excited
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer Deadpool & Wolverine has been on an astonishing promotional tour worldwide ahead of the highly anticipated Marvel release of the year. During the press junket, the director of the movie, Shawn Levy, appeared for a chat with Variety and shared that when he and Ryan Reynolds knew that Jackman was onboard, they had a pretty clear picture of what the movie would look like. But they had to convince Kevin Feige.
Despite his initial doubts, Feige agreed to bring back Logan star debuting him in the MCU alongside Reynolds’ Deadpool. However, the Marvel President had one condition that excited Levy even more.
SUGGESTED: Will Ryan Reynolds And Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine Appear In ‘Avengers 5?’
“When we told Kevin that Hugh was in, the first thing I remember him saying was, ‘OK, but he’s finally wearing the yellow suit,’” Levy told Variety. “We immediately responded, ‘Hell f–cking yes.’”
It worked, Jackman got to wear his iconic comic accurate costume in the movie and fans hailed the decision to change it from his X-Men movies under the banner of Fox.
Kevin Feige On Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine New Costume
Giving the yellow suit to Jackman’s Wolverine is perhaps one of the greatest decisions Marvel Studios has made in recent times in regard to the costumes of their characters in live-action. “Hugh Jackman having never appeared in the character’s most iconic suit is like being Superman in 10 movies and never wearing the Superman costume,” Feige said of Wolverine’s iconic yellow costume. “It’s a testament to Wolverine that it didn’t necessarily matter; the character is more than the costume,” he added.
In the MCU, Feige is the boss and he can have his say to meet up the demands of fans that Fox has kept away. “When I realized Hugh was in, I went from studio mode to ‘you know you gotta get in the yellow outfit, right?’” Feige added.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be a huge MCU opener this year as the studio has slated only one movie for theatrical release. Deadpool & Wolverine also stars Emma Corrin as villainous Cassandra Nova, Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox, and several X-Men cameos.
Deadpool & Wolverine is coming to the theaters on July 26, 2024.
