November marks the release of Gladiator II, and now we have the first trailer for the much anticipated follow-up. The first battle-heavy trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, Gladiator II, is giving fans their first look at what to expect from the historical epic, which takes place more than 20 years after the events of the Russell Crowe-led 2000 original.
The First Trailer For Gladiator II Has Been Released
The highly anticipated trailer for Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II has finally arrived, showcasing a stellar cast including Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington.
Paramount released the trailer earlier today. Captions on social media stated: “From director Ridley Scott, watch the new Official Trailer for #GladiatorII starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, and Fred Hechinger – Only in theatres November 22.”
The sequel picks up two decades after the events of the original film, which cemented Russell Crowe’s place in Hollywood history. The story takes place in North Africa’s Numidia, where Lucius, son of Lucilla, was sent to escape the clutches of the Roman Empire. However, fate has other plans, and Lucius finds himself drawn back to Rome, where he is forced to become a gladiator.
Before the trailer release, Paramount Pictures had revealed the film’s initial poster on Monday.
At one point in the trailer, a voice-over cautions, “Remember Lucius, the war will consume you,” as swords are drawn for intense gladiatorial combat. Pedro Pascal, known for The Mandalorian and Narcos, steps into the role of Marcus Aurelius. The trailer also showcases Denzel Washington’s Macrinus, a wealthy arms dealer who uses gladiators for sport. The main villains are twin emperors Caracalla (Fred Hechinger) and Geta (Joseph Quinn).

Additionally, the trailer features a glimpse of the powerful soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer, including a reimagining of No Church in the Wild by Kanye West and Jay Z, with the fitting lyrics: Tears on the mausoleum floor / Blood stains the Colosseum doors.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Paul Mescal said, “I’m so excited to present the first official trailer of Gladiator II. With visionary director, Ridley Scott at the helm, Gladiator II promises to deliver the biggest action sequences ever put to film. Enjoy this first look and we truly can’t wait to see you in cinemas this November.“
Fans Have Mixed Reaction To The Gladiator II Trailer
As of now, no confirmed details about the plot has been revealed. But fans already have split comments following the release of the first teaser trailer.
While some are excited, some feel it lacks something. It will be not fair to judge it from the very trailer though.
Looks incredible. Was on the fence of them creating a second but I think it’s in great hands after watching the trailer. I am entertained!

I want to enjoy a fun journey into history, not endure another biased, masochistic European guilt trip with shiny graphics.
Hard pass 👎

Strange music in the trailer…. Needs Hans Zimmer
it completely killed the atmosphere.
Fire whoever is responsible for that music choice.
Please stop using crap remixes of crap hip-hop tunes for trailers.— velan (@billabilli1234) July 9, 2024
