Mia Goth’s MaXXXine is all set to hit the theaters on July 5 and the movie has been in a splendid buzz. It all makes sense considering the grand preparation for the third installment of the trilogy. We have excluded the movie despite being one of the most anticipated movies of the year primarily because MaXXXine is very close to making its theatrical debut. Michael Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place: Day One is now showing in theaters after making a huge splash among fans. Several horror highly anticipated horror movies have already been released including Sydney Sweeney’s Immaculate, Nell Tiger Free starrer The First Omen. Several horror movies, however, have yet to make theatrical debut, here’s the ten most exciting horror movies yet to release—
10. Trap
Night Shyamalan is a mastermind of horror movies who has The Sixth Sense, The Village, Knock at the Cabin, and several other horror titles to his credit, bringing another exciting horror thriller to the global audience. Starring Josh Hartnett, Shyamalan’s new movie Trap will follow “a father (Hartnett) and his teen daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) attend a pop concert only to realize they’ve entered the center of a dark and sinister event.”
Trap also stars the director’s eldest daughter, Saleka Shyamalan as Lady Raven, a pop star attending the event where the sister plot takes place. Hayley Mills and Alison Pill also joined the cast of the movie. The trailer of the movie has already been released and it is quite intriguing. Also, considering the prowess of the director there is every reason to have faith in Shyamalan’s upcoming slate.
Trap is scheduled for an August 9 release.
9. The Crow
Ghost in the Shell and Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders helmed The Crow reboot starring rising star Bill Skarsgard who has already proved his prowess with his stellar performance in It franchise. The narrative of the movie will follow kind of similar premise as Alex Proyas directed movie that stars Brandon Lee, Ernie Hudson, and Michael Wincott. The original movie has become a cult classic with a huge fanbase.
Although the new movie has been in a negative light following the release of the trailer and the first look, the anticipation does not diminish with the flowing wind. Based on the comic books by James O’Barr of the same name, the official synopsis of The Crow reads:
“When soulmates Eric and Shelly are brutally murdered, Eric is given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself and sets out to seek revenge, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”
Design-wise, the new movie looks different from the original but several filmmakers have tried to reboot the movie for far too long and it finally came to fruition.

8. Terrifier 3
Another installment of Terrifier? Damien Leone’s horror franchise is getting another sequel and the upcoming movie has created ample hype among the fans. Of course, the success of one movie opens corridors for more in a franchise and Terrifier 3 has extensively followed the glory of the success. “Aside from a yearning for new and exciting horror villains like Art the Clown, a large part of Terrifier 2’s success was based on its unprecedented theatrical release and its uncompromising nature,” Damien Leone previously told Bloody Disgusting.
“It’s pretty clear that we’re now entering a slasher genre renaissance; perhaps the biggest one since the ’90s. Filmmakers like myself are gonna have to keep pushing the envelope so it’s encouraging when a company respects a director’s vision and understands what makes a certain type of film successful,” the director added.
The movie already has a trailer and as per the official logline, Terrifier 3 will follow “Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.”
Terrifier 3 will be released on 11 October.
7. Speak No Evil
James Watkins’ Speak No Evil starring X-Men star James McAvoy is quite exciting for obvious reasons. The upcoming 2024 movie is the remake of the 2022 Danish film of the same name which was directed by Christian Tafdrup. The OG movie was a critical hit and two years later, fans will get to see another version of the horror pic.
The official logline of the movie reads, “When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.”
Blumhouse Productions movie also stars Mackenzie Davis, Aisling Franciosi, Alix West Lefler, Dan Hough, and Scoot McNairy.

6 . Smile 2
After the huge success of the 2022 horror Smile, director Parker Finn is expanding the Smile universe with another installment. The first Smile movie earned a stunning total worldwide gross of $217.4 million against a production budget of just $17 million. The original movie based on the director’s short, Laura Hasn’t Slept, was also a critical darling.
Smile 2 has certainly elevated the hype for horror movie fans and the trailer of the movie is certainly promising. As per the synopsis, Smile 2 will follow Naomi Scott’s Skye Riley, a global pop sensation who is about to embark on a new world tour. “She begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”
Smile 2 also stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson.
Smile 2 is slated for an October 18 theatrical debut.
5. Nightbitch
Marielle Heller helmed the horror comedy Nightbitch starring Amy Adams, which is definitely worth waiting for. The movie adaptation of the Rachel Yoder novel of the same name, Nightbitch’s official poster states “Motherhood is a b–tch” and Searchlight Pictures has created a decent hype around it.
Adams will lead the movie playing a woman “thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine,” the synopsis reads.
Alongside Adams, Scoot McNairy will play her husband. The movie also stars Arleigh Patrick Snowden, Emmett James Snowden, Zoë Chao, Mary Holland, Archana Rajan, and Jessica Harper. Before theatrical release, the movie is scheduled to premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
Nightbitch is set for a December 6 theatrical release.
4. Alien: Romulus
The Alien franchise is back with the new title Alien: Romulus. Under the banner of 20th Century Studios, Fede Álvarez who has Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead to his credit, is set to direct the latest installment to the iconic sci-fi movie series Alien. Reportedly, Alien: Romulus would be the first entry to the Xenomorph canon since 2017’s Alien: Covenant. Further, the movie will take place right after the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 original opus and before James Cameron’s 1986 sequel Aliens.
The movie will follow, a group of young space colonizers who come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe while scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station. The movie stars, Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
Original Alien director Scott is producing the movie alongside Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill.
Alien: Romulus is set to release on August 16.
3. Longlegs
Scream queen Maika Monroe is starring in this psychological horror as an FBI agent Lee Harker. Under the banner of Neon, Oz Perkins is helming the movie that also stars industry veteran Nicolas Cage as Longlegs— a terrifying and elusive serial killer being chased by the FBI. The movie also stars Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, Michelle Choi-Lee, and Dakota Daulby.
Longlegs has already made Rotten Tomatoes debut with a stunning 100% score. The trailer of the movie also gave us a glimpse of a terrifying horror waiting to be unleashed on the screen. The premise of the movie follows an FBI agent who “uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.”
The trailer and the very looks of the movie reveal that horror fans are in a treat for a movie that would give the horrific and disturbing vibe of a smart serial killer who will unleash astonishing oddity and immaculate terror.
Longlegs will hit the theaters on July 12.
2. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been one of the highly anticipated horror flicks since its announcement. Tim Burton is reviving his 1988 horror comedy Beetlejuice blessing fans of the classics with a sequel. Michael Keaton leads the new film reprising his title role. Burton’s Edward Scissorhands collaborator Winona Ryder is also returning to play Lydia Deetz alongside Catherine O’Hara reprising his original role.
“Beetlejuice is back!” the official Warner Brothers synopsis reads. “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. The star-studded cast of the Burton-directed movie includes newcomer Jenna Ortega, who plays Astrid. Monica Bellucci joined the cast as Betelgeuse’s wife, Willem Dafoe as a ghost detective, Justin Theroux as Rory, and Burn Gorman as a town reverend. Return of Beetlejuice alongside an ensemble cast with the original director makes the movie one of the topmost exciting horror projects of 2024.

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu “is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake,” the official synopsis reads.
Under the banner of Focus Feature Nosferatu hints at a masterful storytelling of the gothic horror narrative with eerie darkness with a heightened suspense.
Nosferatu is scheduled for a December 25 release.
