Chris Pratt has been one of the closest friends of James Gunn who previously directed the hit MCU trilogy Guardians of the Galaxy starring Pratt as Star Lord, is now DCU boss. Following the end of his tenure in MCU, Gunn took over DCU with Peter Safran to run the studio and they have revamped the very atmosphere of the Universe. The new dawn of DCU will begin with his new movie Superman starring David Corenswet and Pratt has recently revealed that he is ready to jump ship from MCU to DC whenever Gunn needs him.

With the end of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Chris Pratt’s MCU tenure is also seemingly over. Of course, he might appear in MCU for Avengers movies or any other crossover projects but there might not be any project for his character to lead. Taking to his Instagram, James Gunn previously teased a photo with Pratt in the set of Superman. “Always nice to have friends visiting set,” he captioned.

However, fans assumed that it was more than a visit, Pratt might very well be in the highly anticipated DC movie as well. Possibly, Pratt might appear in a cameo to establish his potential DC character which might expand in the later project/s. Still, it was nothing but hypothetical until the actor himself commented on the matter. Speaking with TMZ, the actor made a funny gesture as he attempted to build the suspense, “There’s always a chance,” Pratt told the outlet but he would not want to spoil anything.

But what role Pratt would play in DC? The actor rather has a vague answer for that, “Man I just have to leave that to the fans and to people like James to decide I’m not exactly sure I’m not I’m truly not sure.” But he is open to playing a role in James Gunn’s Universe, “If it could fit into my schedule and it made sense and then I would love it I’m, of course, I love playing uh Star Lord and so hopefully there’s a chance that could come back and you know, I’m just feel so blessed to be able to do any of it to be considered for any of it and I’m of course if it’s right and the fans would love it then I’d be more than happy to do it.”

Still, it is unclear if Pratt is really joining the DC Universe and further updates might confirm but as the actor is not confirming or denying his involvement, it is not entirely irrational to exclude him from the speculation.

If not in Superman, James Gunn might write a role for Pratt in DC in any of their future projects, how about Batman? Well, Batman is seemingly unlikely considering Gunn might again root for a younger actor as he cast 30-year-old David Corenswet and Pratt is 45. However, there would be several DC roles for the DC boss to adopt for his long-time pal and with that in mind, it is possible that he might one day jump ship to DC.

During his press junket for his 2024 animated flick The Garfield Movie directed by Mark Dindal, the actor exclusively told Comicbook.com that he would want to do both roles.

“Well, it probably make more sense that I would be Star Lord again,” Pratt said hinting at his refusal to let go of his MCU role. “But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there,” he continued.

He added, “Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.” As far as Gunn’s Superman is concerned, the movie is in production and recent leaked photos from the set have unveiled the first look of the major cast including Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Edi Gathegi.

Superman is scheduled for an July 11, 2025 release.
