Yorgos Lanthimos’ restless creative streak is far from taking a pause, amid the release of his recent flick Kinds of Kindness, the director’s new movie Bugonia is confirmed under the banner of Focus Features. New reports reveal the primary cast of the movie as well.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness is now showing in theaters, the bizarre anthology movie (played by the same characters) starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, and Willem Dafoe, has made several headlines. Of course, the movie got a huge push following Emma Stone’s Oscar win for her role in Poor Things and the movie got excellent reactions from the audience and critics alike. Now, the title of the Lanthimos’ has sparked discussion among fans. Lanthimos’ next movie Bugonia has several updates which include the movie will be released under the banner of Focus features.

What Is Bugonia About?

Bugonia, based on the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy, Save the Green Planet! written and directed by Jang Joon-Hwan, will follow “two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth,” per Deadline. The English version of the story was reportedly developed by CJ ENM with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen at Square Peg.

Now, right after the release of Kinds of Kindness, initial details of Lanthimos’ movie revealed that the director is teaming up with Emma Stone, and Jesse Plemons again. Stone and Lanthimos’ collaborations have already scripted history on several occasions. The duo began their collaboration with Netflix’s comedy thriller, The Favourite and they have been unstoppable ever since continuing their working relationship with more projects including Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness.

Plemons has also seemingly made his mark with the director. The Civil War actor won Best Actor at Cannes for Kinds of Kindness this year which is a remarkable feat revealing the prowess of the actor. It is unclear if Lanthimos’ frequent collaborator Willem Dafoe will join Bugonia or not but there is a possibility that the director would find a role for the acclaimed actor as well. The rest of the cast of the movie is yet to be disclosed.

Does Bugonia Have A Release Date?

Yes, Bugonia is set to hit the theaters on November 7, 2025, which will mark the director’s yearly release streak after Poor Things, released in 2023. Possibly, the director will have another project slated for 2026 as well.

Does Bugonia Have A Trailer?

As of writing the piece, Bugonia does not have a trailer. Produced by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures, Lanthimos, Aster, and Knudsen for Square Peg, Stone for Fruit Tree, and Miky Lee and Jerry Ko for CJ ENM (per Deadline), the movie is yet to roll out for production.
