Following the success of Barbie where Ryan Gosling played Ken alongside Margot Robbie’s title character, the actor appeared in The Fall Guy. The David Leitch-directed movie failed to make a box-office impression despite starring the Oscar-nominated duo, Emily Blunt and Gosling. The movie only earned a meager $145 million against a $127 million budget, making it a box office bomb. Now, Gosling is roping in another project with German actor Sandra Hüller.
Ryan Gosling And Sandra Hüller Team Up For A New Movie

Ryan Gosling is set to appear in Project Hail Mary alongside Sandra Hüller as per a report by Deadline. Based on Andy Weir’s gripping sci-fi novel of the same name, the movie will see Gosling as a middle school science teacher, Ryland Grace.
Under the banner of Amazon MGM, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Aditya Sood are producing the movie. As per the report, Lord and Miller are also set to helm the project. Drew Goddard who previously wrote Ridley Scott’s sci-fi The Martian, will scribe the movie.
Andy Weir has been a remarkable author of science fiction of the generation. Scott adopted his 2011 book, The Martian starring Matt Damon as the lead, it was a huge hit. Now, as Goddard is writing the cinematic adaptation of the movie, it indicates that the movie might be a hut to complement Gosling’s credit.
Oscar winner Greig Fraser also joined the movie as the director of photography who has the Dune franchise and The Batman to his credit.

By the look of it, Project Hail Mary would be a grand preparation for and could be a huge theatrical spectacle before debuting in Prime Videos. Ryan Gosling has done his fair share of sci-fi movies including Blade Runner 2049 and Damien Chazelle’s 2018 biographical drama First Man which chronicles the journey of Neil Armstrong’s legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the surface of the Moon.
Gosling’s Ryland Grace a middle school science teacher, wakes up on a spaceship. He has no memory of his identity or how he got there, per Deadline. “Grace will have to figure out how to complete his interstellar mission to save Earth from an astronomical catastrophe,” completely alone… “He later meets a mysterious alien who has traveled light years to save his own species from the same fate.”
Hüller may play the role of the alien but as of now, her role is undisclosed. Hüller has stellar credit to her resume including her acclaimed role in The Zone of Interest and freshly came out of the 2024 Oscars after claiming a nomination for her portrayal of Sandra in Anatomy of a Fall.
Project Hail Mary is slated for March 20, 2026 release.
