CM Punk is having a good time in WWE, despite his injuries, The Best In The World is already in the story of his feud with Drew McIntyre but amid that, his feud with AEW boss Tony Khan is taking a new turn. Just after Punk blasted Khan, AEW released the backstage brawl footage that led to Punk’s departure from the company.
AEW Released CM Punk’s Backstage Brawl With Jack Perry
CM Punk surprised every wrestling fan with his return to wrestling as he debuted AEW in 2021. He received a record-breaking welcome from fans but his tenure at the company came to an end despite his decent run after his 10-year hiatus. Following an incident with Jack Perry backstage, Punk was dismissed from the company.
Now, AEW Boss Tony Khan decided to air the footage of the brawl, as a part of a storyline? Perhaps but it has gone viral among wrestling fans immediately. The 4/10 episode of AEW Dynamite was certainly different. Young Bucks appeared in the AEW Dynamite episode addressing their Dynasty showdown against FTR coming up but interestingly, the segment also included the backstage footage of Punk.

In the footage, Punk confronted Perry and was seen arguing. The argument turned into a heated brawl as Punk pushed his fellow AEW Superstar. Samoa Joe who was nearby, rushed to the scene alongside the crew backstage to calm things down.
Notably, Khan previously promised to release all the footage of the incident but it was certainly a surprise seeing the use of the videos right after Punk blasted Khan after joining WWE.
CM Punk Blasted AEW Boss Tony Khan
After returning to WWE, again with a surprising turn of events, CM Punk appeared on MMAFightingonSBN and discussed what happened at the moment that prompted his departure from AEW. “Jack came back from his match, I was the next match I’m sitting there,” Punk said.
“I walk up to him and I’m just like ‘Jack why do you insist on doing this dumb internet s*it like on TV?’ You know? and he’s just like ‘Well, if you got a problem about it do something about it.’ And I was just like, ‘Man come on man you know I’ll f*cking kill you like what are we doing?’”
Punk went on to add details of the event that followed, “I thought I was doing a responsible thing you know I didn’t punch anybody,” he said.
“I just choked somebody a little bit, Samoa Joe was there told me to stop and then I quit. I turned to Tony and I said this place is a f*cking joke man you’re a clown, I quit. I went to my room and then Joe and Jerry Lynn came and got me and they’re like let’s just go out there and kill it let’s just and I was just too fired up and I’m fired up now and I’m probably going to regret you know talking about all this s*it but that’s what happened.”
However, Punk said that right after the heated argument with Khan, he went on to wrestle a match that was booked for him. It was a professional thing to do, he added. “That match is is I was just like this is the last time I’m ever going to wrestle Samoa Joe, you know what I mean? Yeah, and this is my last match in this company.”
“I thought it was the professional thing to do. All the fans, you know? A lot of fans there, yeah, you know probably a lot of them to see me. So go out there give him a show.”
Punk is currently signed with WWE and is in the development of a storyline to have a feud with Drew McIntyre.
CM Punk Addressed Tony Khan’s Comments After His Dismissal From AEW
Punk also addressed Khan’s comments on Punk following his departure as Khan went on air saying that he has never been afraid for his life and for the safety of the workers, per MMAFightingonSBN. “I can’t tell you what Tony felt or what he was thinking but I never did anything that would make him fear for his life but you know he’s who he is.”
But Punk was certainly slandered by it as it grabbed the attention with the alleged ‘Punk attacked Tony’ discussion. “Yeah, I know and everyone’s like oh my God think of the billionaires like no uh yeah they’re very much as a part of there’s a concerted effort to I guess slander me and try to ruin my character and stuff like that,” Punk said in the podcast.
That’s kind of the Genesis of all the drama, Punk added saying, “Don’t do that why are you doing that to a guy who works for your company why are you lying why are you spreading rumors and lies and s*it about your top guy? Doesn’t make any sense you’re only hurting yourself. You’re trying to dim my, I don’t know, jealousy? Envy? I don’t, I don’t really know and again it’s not really the time to litigate it all and everything but like it’s unfortunate situation.”
Punk further said that he did his part at the company, drawing the required attention, and selling tickets and merchandise as for the reason he was brought in for the company. Regardless, the is expected to be extended, and Punk with their rival company WWE, would have nothing to hold back. So, it would be interesting to see how Punk would react to the release of the backstage videos.
