The Young Sheldon series finale may reveal what’s going on with Shamy— Sheldon Cooper played by Jim Parsons and Amy actor Mayim Bialik’s Farrah Fowler. The onscreen The Big Bang Theory couple is set to reprise their roles in the fan-favorite CBS sitcom in its spin-off Young Sheldon’s series finale. The show will reunite the duo for the first time since The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019 with its final episode The Stockholm Syndrome.
Parsons is particularly happy about it.
Jim Parsons Commented On Reprising Sheldon Cooper
It’s been a while since fans said goodbye to The Big Bang Theory but the showrunner Chuck Lorre has brought the younger version of the beloved character in the show’s spin-off Young Sheldon with a similar eccentricity possessing the nerdish character. Jim Parsons has been an integral part of the spin-off as well, besides narrating, the actor also produces the show at CBS. Now, as Parsons and his co-star Mayim Bialik are set to reprise their characters, The Boys in the Band star gave his insight to ET. “It was beautiful,” Parsons told the outlet.
“It was even more beautiful than I expected it to be. One of the reasons I was excited to do it is because what they wrote is so sweet and I think they worked Mayim and I into that show so beautifully.”
The actor continued:
“I hope everyone agrees. But also for us the way that they tape — because they’re a single-camera show and we’re multi-camera — the whole look of the show was a really special experience. To get to go with Mayim, in a world we’re really guests and revisit these characters a little older, just a completely different circumstance.”
On a good note, Young Sheldon is also ending with a BIG BANG, similar to what the original show has ended. A previous report claimed that another The Big Bang Theory spin-off is in the works at Max but details of the new series are under wraps.
Jim Parsons Hailed Mayim Bialik
While giving details of the production of the series finale, Parsons revealed his experience wearing Sheldon’s shoes again. “Well, yes and no. We finished our first read-through, we didn’t tape it,” Parsons told ET.
“We just went in and felt around the set, and Mayim nailed it when she walked back and said, ‘Uh, I thought I’d feel a lot more confident than this.’ I said, ‘Me, too.'”
After praising Bialik, the actor said:
“I really thought it’d be like putting on a pair of old shoes and then eventually it was, but not for about an hour or so. And I was like, ‘Do I still know how to talk like this?’ It was weird.”
Young Sheldon is ending with season 7 but the universe is expanding after The Bing Bang Theory, pun intended, with a new show developing into the universe. Or perhaps in the near future, we will get to see Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Bernadette, or a bit of Stuart and Kripke reprising their roles in cameos.
The Young Sheldon finale will air on May 16, on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
